What time is the tournament for? I'm working that evening :{{
next time they hold it we (meaning TL) should have a sf4 team. and win. just for the bragging rights

Because... Wong is good at ST, too? It was pretty close by all accounts, NKI said Justin baited his super really well (and given that he plays Chun, it'd have to be REALLY well) at the end or something.
he's good yeah, it's just that NKI was beating my friend that plays gief every game consistently, my friend only took one game off of him (edit: out of like 20). when my friend played wong at impact clash at HD, he beat him 4-2 in the winner's finals, and then lost 3-4 and then another 3-4 in the grand finals. At vanilla ST they went 3-4 in wong's favor.
i mean i know it doesn't really work like that (comparing people like that), just such a big difference it felt like it should. NKI seemed to have such absolute perfection in his game earlier that day. wong on the other hand makes visible mistakes in ST and seems like has trouble doing reversals. i dunno, maybe he got nervous or something. wong is really smart and definitely has found some interesting tricks and brickwalls with O. Sagat in ST (I learned so much from watching him play it was ridiculous) so i'm definitely not saying it's impossible, it's just very surprising to me.
edit: for example Gief's jumpin -> spd tick throws that works 100% correct on everyone other than O. Sagat, O. Sagat can jump out of. This is because O. Sagat is taller and the jumpin hits/gets blocked enough frames early, not sure of the exact number.
(18:12:57) (@sibladeko) (06:09:21 PM) nyczdominiking: SF4 Justin -vs- Mike Ross was hype as hell too (18:12:57) (@sibladeko) (06:09:36 PM) nyczdominiking: Justin taunted with Rufus, the one where he sits down and wipes his forehead (18:12:57) (@sibladeko) (06:11:47 PM) nyczdominiking: then when he won the first game he stood up and looked at Mike Ross and said "WHATS UP MIKE?! THATS IT?!"

the most hype match i saw was one that can't be described in words you just had to see it
c. viper vs. sagat
people in the back screaming LOW TIER SAGAT LOW TIER SAGAT and just crazy shit happening all over so close almost was a fluke
Yes, it isn't. He still went 3-4 with justin wong in vanilla ST (using the same tricks that he used to brickwall in HD btw, my friend had me do this over and over the next day until he figured out every way to beat it from every position). Something my friend could never do against NKI. If anything, it being HD would benefit wong more because of the increased ease of reversal shoryuing though, I think Wong mostly figured him out and had a lot more energy left over.
so hype dont even know the names. im guessing the one where kensou whiffed ultra then sagat did ultra and missed the set winning hit when he couldhave just did something normal etc

Your friend plays Gief. NKI plays Chun. Those are fairly different matchups. Those matchups also change a bit in ST <-> HD. Your friend's relative success against Wong in a few sets doesn't really have any bearing on Wong's ability to beat NKI.

yeah like i said, i know it doesn't work that way you're right i'm being illogical
it's just still shocking to me, when I saw him play it didn't feel like Wong was someone who could beat NKI or Damdai or the other good people in the ST tournament. He seems closer to the level of my friend than to top player level. I guess I was wrong. He definitely is very smart.
Collection of the whole thing. Pretty freaking sweet, especially Haruna Anno. Tossgirl of japanese games lolww. The show is called Gamer's Koshien. Koshien is Japan's super giant high school baseball tournament, really, really prestigious (comparable to super bowl). except this is for gamer's ww.
absolutely must watch this:
She beat Tokido a while ago and he wants revenge. She's playing even (no handicap) games with the pros and she's really good. + Show Spoiler +
at the end she says "Where've seen this before~~" and the little screen's captioned "Deja Vu"

mainly it was that i don't know the sagat's name and i didn't want to name one player and not the other
the explanation also doesn't make it as ridiculous either
nearly EVERYONE thought that shit was going to hit and everyone started screaming and the guy that did it stood up and started screaming too and then suddenly "oh shit"
the round before that was ridiculous, the viper nearly perfected him, some ridiculous combos. somebody yelled "it's mahvel baby" and it was quite appropriate.
