I know, I know.
I'm bored, and feel like doing some MMO stuff again.
Problem is, last time I quit (once I got my 60 to 70, I deleted everything except the character), I left nothing on my character. No bags, no gear, no weapons, no gold, no mounts; nothing.
I'm not really interested in playing my mage again, though. What I'm interested in doing is just soloing.
It might defeat the purpose of an MMO, but I liked soloing. I soloed from 60-70, and I loved it more than sitting around trying to get into a decent guild so I could leech off of everyone else and go raid. I love questing, and I love grinding. (I'm weird.)
So, what classes would be ideal to solo with? I do not want a class that uses pets. Seriously. I find pets to be an absolutely disgustingly annoying part of the game.
I've played mages extensively, and didn't like the downtime. I've played warriors before for a while, so they're fun, but I'm not so sure how easy it is to solo with them.
Rogues seem to be pretty fragile, and I'm looking for something better in terms of health and armor.
So that's why I'm leaning towards classes like shamans, paladins, and druids.
Thoughts?

I've tried playing Alliance a few times. The amount of stupidity in all honesty was just staggering. Besides, my RL friends were Horde before I even started playing, so it's not like I was left with much choice.
I'm not saying all Alliance players are bad; but a majority of those I've met have been pretty damn stupid.

Yeah you can be the undead gank rouges, fucking everyone hates them, but to be friends with them is love.
Plus they > warlocks which is their only competition.

Rogues are by far the most class (besides maybe Warrior) to solo with for me Try it... go combat swords, have fun! They are very good solo'ers, with first aid you will have virtually no downtime ever.
It's too bad you don't like pet classes because I rather enjoy hunters too 
Warriors are pretty bad ass though yeah for soloing, with first aid little downtime, with good weapons you will tear through some mobs quickly.

Play a game called Fury instead. AFAIK its just like top level Wow Arena play except its less MMOish. Try it out I've heard a lot of good stuff about it and its free.

Lol I love how the guy wants to solo and no one mentions Hunters. Soloing a hunter is like playing WoW with training wheels

paladins are fun characters to solo with, prot pallies can solo aoe grind a fuckton of mobs that are higher level than them even. But at lower levels, they arent as effective at it.
Druids are a fun solo class, because they have alot of variety, for example, if you feel like playing a warrior-like class, you can go bear form, or cat form for a rogue like experiance.
rogues arent really a fun solo, its just.. pressing 3 buttons over and over with very little fun :/
But as everyone says.. dont play wow again, it seriously messes up your life.

I've played horde and alliance to 70, and honestly there's no real difference in the population intelligence wise. Cept maybe in BGs where horde always wins.

Anyways, I'm like you rpf; I really don't like getting into a guild and doing like 200 hour raids or w/e -_-;;;
Anyways, I play a Blood Elf Warlock and she's soooooooooooooo fun to just go around killing stuff with :D
Some idiot Alliance people (all like 40 levels below me) JUST decided to attack me (I'm 70) and umm ... it was not pretty

Fury isn't an MMORPG... it's a 3rd person arena... thing.
edit: It's really good for passing the time, though. Start the battles right off with other people... just get a friend on vent and you're good to go for a bit

Druid would be the obvious choice out of the classes you listed. I've got a full tier2 pvp warrior, and he sucks at farming. I've got a full tier2 pvp paladin, and..paladins just suck at farming. They do low damage, take a lot of mana, gear, etc. I've got an almost full tier2 pvp warlock, and i think I'd still take a druid over him for farming.
What you get from a druid:
High DPS in cat form. Not to mention, abillity to stealth
No mana cost to kill fast.
Ability to heal, and regen mana while killing in cat form.
Bear form, ability to take a lot of damage
Cheetah form, ability to run away if you ever might die.
Swim Form, for anything in water
Flight Form..now this is just insane. The ability to fly away in an instant, while ooc. If you get epic flight form, this is just be insane.
I mean, no other class has anywhere near the versatility.
