Nah there's always a doubt, people have short memories... If someone else performs really well a few months before the award and Ronaldo has a little slump then he might not even get it. A lot of it will also depend on how Manu will fare in the CL..

yeah that was a pretty sick game ronaldo played...the cute opening goal and 3 assists...he may as well get player of the year for the 2nd straight year if he continues playing the way he has been all season (and especially if manu win the premiership)...too bad rooney didn't get his hat trick, booo hooo

He clearly meant it, but it is absolutely ridiculous when you watch it. Uses the side of his right foot to spin it round the defender.

What was ronaldo's position in that game? He switched from winger to amc right, he always seems to be everywhere. He was terrific but I didn't like how he was doing tricks then giving the ball away on several occasions.

Ronaldo start of as the right winger on a 4 man midfield, from left to right:

Giggs - Scholes - Carrick - Ronaldo

with 2 attackers in front of him, namely Rooney and Tevez. However, he basically has the freedom to go everywhere he wants.

the funny thing is that brazilian press still doesn't think Ronaldo is the best, BY FAR, player of the world right now. Not 'of the season', he is the best player of the world. And I don't even like the bastard, but you have to be very idiot to not give him the credit.

The man is just THE outstanding player of the strongest league for the 2nd year, doing a lot of incredible things.

I think while his speed/power, ability in the air, overall physical ability, skills, positioning sense are world-class, he gives away the ball too much trying to do fancy stuff and still doesn't always make the best decisions and sometimes goes down too easily. But the results speak for themselves, 25 goals in the premiership for a winger

I guess the only one who compares to Ronaldo's impressiveness-wise this season might be Messi. But he's not such a good all round player, so I wouldn't really consider him for the title of the best player. He looks more dangerous to me though when he gets the ball. He only lacks the efficiency and positioning. But two years ago, Ronaldo didn't really pose that much threat either, so maybe Messi will get there.
I think it's really astonishing what a complete player Cristiano has become. Guess he's really working hard. Maybe he will also learn how to pass defenders without twinkle toes.
