Berbatov apparently going to Man U soon for 28 million pounds. That is a ridiculous price for someone I don't consider nearly as good as Rooney. 28 million can probably buy a lot of better strikers.

well yea english players are overpriced but only in the Premier League, since they don't occupy any foreginer spot(?) on the team.
I bet Robbie Keane, Bentley, Walcott doesn't even surpasses 12M pounds if they were to sell them to Spain or Italy

theres no rule for foreigners in the premiership besides them having to get a work permit, you can have as many as you want. And also berbatov is bulgarian.

You can't compare Berbatov with Rooney, one is technical and the other is raw strength. I think he is a really good sign but buying from a team with money, as the spurs are, gets expensive. Probably the spurs will only accept if they make a counter signing, as far as I know, Juande Ramos is interested in Villa, Silva, Etoo and a couple of more spanish Liga names. Villa and Silva recently stated that they want to stay at Valencia, but according to spanish press Villa is linked with Real Madrid and Silva with Barça. Guardiola just said that Etoo will stay with the team, despite his previous statements.

Berbatov is more of a true striker than Rooney and much bigger. But they are both technically gifted and can create and score. I just don't have the impression that Berbatov works hard enough. He always plays relaxed and uses his awesome first touch. Nonetheless I think he will be a hit like Ruud was and another source of offensive output to take the burden off of C.Ronaldo. United had been trying to get Villa but he wouldn't leave Spain despite only several months ago Valencia management saying Villa and Silva were for sale. Too bad because Villa would probably have been cheaper and a better fit than Berbatov. If Eto'o is staying that would also be weird because I thought the big clubs would all line up to sign him for cheap but nothing has happened.

Villa is around 40 million euros, and Barça was asking the same (or even more) for Eto'o. He had offers from Chelsea, Milan and Inter, but none of them payed that price.

I wish Villa or Silva move to Real Madrid (I prefer Silva) it will be a great improvement.

Eto and Henry both scored. I doubt they are going to move. Arsenal sucks, Wenger is right, he need to get in more reinforcement. Liverpool sucks and was lucky. 40m strikeforce didn't do shit, it actually make the 16m Bent look worthwhile. Anyway, I think a 2008-2009 season thread should start.

I wouldn't understand that transfer at all, Real Madrid already has some of the best strikers in the world, Ruud, Raul, Robinho, etc.
Adding another striker would be a bad move , it would bench Raul probably, and this would be bad for him and his fitness(?). RM need to take advantage of Raul at this point since his career is slowly dying due to his age.His not the same as he was 10 years ago. Also it would leave Higuain with almost no time to play throught the league, causing him to lose form and would stop his development as a player, who btw is one of the most promising in the world.
It wouldn't be a smart move either from Real Madrid or Valencia.

Real M. Strikers -> RvN, Raul <- old guys, 34,33 years. Saviola <- really no use here(dunno why, he never got a chance), Hiquan <- good guy, but I would never expect 20goal season from this guy. If needed Robinho could play striker too.
Seems like Huntelaar is joining Real M.

I think Raul and RVN is ok, can't still play for at least 2 more season. They never rely on their speed, it's more natural instinct and composure for both of them. They will get someone next season, but I don't think this one. They can do a bit more testing on Saviola and Hiquian.
