yeah i wouldnt mind 1 faction looking similiar, kinda how like in overwatch, soldier 76 is made to strictly to appeal to CoD players, but give me a crazy ass faction that makes my jaw drop. Thats what made Blizzard RTSes so cool, was the asymmetrical races with crazy alien designs.
I hope they will! It feels a little like a SC2 mod, but it is different enough for me.
The target audience will pretty much be "SC2 players who love micro", but maybe there are still enough to get a player base up?
RTS has become an old man's genre now, and even MOBAs are drifting in that direction. Afaik, kids do play FPS, but they are not used to controlling units with their mouse. They grew up with pads and controllers.
It was mentioned how it would be nice to have a good pool of novice players to greet newcomers to the game. There should be some, but unfortunately, competitive games turn into shark tanks really quickly these days. The ones who stay look up how to play, and the ones being smoked 0-10 in their first ranked matches leave, and spend their time doing something else. You need other modes for them, and AI players to be their punching bags.

What gave you the impression that Day9 was partnering with David Kim? It just seems like he learned about this stealth company and signal boosted it on Twitter. He's not in the list of devs on the website either.
I like their tagline: "Fast Action Real Time Strategy". Really it's just C&C style RTS. In his last year working on SC2 he definitely tried to move it more towards the 'fast action' side of the RTS genre. C&C developers used the 'fast and fluid' tag line. Often, in a game of C&C you'd be fighting for your life and micro-ing combat units like crazy 75 seconds into the game.
It'll be cool to see what David Kim comes up with... Dude's a genius.

ah- that's completely fair. Maybe I am wrong, I think I just assumed that because he was there for the announcement as u said signal boosting it on X. You're right, he's not listed in the dev team my mistake.

What is Day9 up to these days anyway?
He -does- have a game studio, though they're intentionally being pretty quiet about what they're working on other than it being some kind of multiplayer strategy game.
He's also streaming (as you'd expect), and has been going through a bunch of RTS this year. I think he's playing the WC3 TFT campaign for the first time, or at least was when I last checked in, though he's also played some RTS I've never heard of, and seems to have a plan including a lot of popular RTS (Red Alert 2, Age of Empires) as well as shit I've never heard of before.
