Ermor needs death gem to summon their mages. They get nation only spells from the beginning to do so.

Holy cow, lol. That's bigger than any battle that has happened in TL1. I think TL1 had only one battle of similiar proportions and even that one was quite a bit smaller and really anticlimactic (just a massive stomp)

This is my first game so I'm not sure how big a canonical "big battle" is, but this one consisted of most of the troops standing around and dying horribly while the mages on both sides turned the battlefield into a maelstrom of nastiness until one side routed, with the Ulmish mages occasionally being distracted by wolves coming in from the sides of the battlefield thanks to T'ien Chi's Howl spell and blasting them instead.

Some more stats:

18.6k gold of troops and commanders; 5.8k gold value lost
168 gems worth of summons; 117 gems worth of summons died
395 gems worth of gear

That's a relatively big battle mostly due to the number of mages committed. The forces are actually relatively normal for dom 4 it seems. 200-300 troop stacks seem quick to accrue in this game compared to before and have more relevance as well. Normal mid-late game battles tend to be around that size when one side inevitably decides another "must go".

Back from the beach. Couple thoughts:

1) People appear to be more interested in a RAND game over a disciples game. It would probably be better if we only host one new game for now, though I suppose it'll take a week or so for everyone to get set up so eh... People appear to be deadlocked over the age for a disciples as is (3 EA vs 3 MA), and we still need 1 more player for us to have even teams.

2) That's one hero Carp. It's not often something gets hit with a meteor to the face and doesn't die. Meanwhile I'm forever under siege. But not for long, once my assasshuns get into place.

3) Also, if anyone would like a glimpse at my current Disciples games (we're at turn ~80), PM me and I'll send you a turn/.2h file. Just gibe email address for me to send to.

We're advancing through Marignon/Sceleria/Arco/Pelagia, the question is whether or not we get double-teamed, and if we're prepared for that or not.

RAND games are very hard to sub so to minimize someone staling out, etc, it's easier to keep a smaller game initially. Once people get a better feel for RAND, we can throw a second one up at some point but keeping it at a smaller number lets the game end earlier and is a little bit less overwhelming for newer players.

Largely the same as a regular game. With the game size and/or map size, probably 1.5-2.5 months, or thereabouts.
