DEAD ON. First time STing a game is DAMN hard. I see that in all of my games. STing is so difficult unless you're really experienced.

I am not such a GM, but I know 1 or two of those. Neal is pretty good as GM, but he has a big problem with pacing in his campaign. Also I found it funny how neal was making JP work extra time with constant strange comments and requests. I seen that a lot when one DM plays in a group by another, especially if the current DM is a noob.

RollPlay: Ehbon - D&D Campaign - Week 1, Part 1 Oh and yes, this is JP's first attempt at being DM (and hilarity ensues).

At least i can enjoy this without any pain.

+ Show Spoiler + god beeing "ye lets watch all dance do rnd shit " then suddenly " I GOT IMPORTANT GODS STUFF TO DO CYA!". also if you want to describe outcome of rolls make them more fitting to the actually roll. missing the ac by 1 shouldnt be "flail wildly missing and hitting other things". and iirc wasnt the whole fire thing like REALLY random? neal wanted to impale the leader with a charge, rolls a slight miss and instead he throws it through the camp resulting in a instant inferno that kills all? overall still decent first effort. catz, ryan and neal seem to have a fun chemistry going, the girl (who looks almost exactly like a girl i once "knew" making it weird for me ;P) needs more to get into it but thats ok. explain her things and whats going on tho, stuff like telling her how the death mechanics work isnt metagaming its expected knowledge needed to make good incharacter decisions. will be fun to see how this will turn out

If you're having fun, that's all that matters, and the DM has succeeded. All that other shit is unnecessary. I've played in really good RP games that had nothing but a dude talking to us and us telling him what we wanted to do. It's interactive story-telling, nothing more and nothing less. That said, I think some stuff caught JP off guard, but all in all he seemed to keep the players relatively interested in the game and nobody seemed to have totally tuned out. That's the mark of a good DM or a great party. I think it was kind of a bit of A and a bit of B. I can tell that JP put a lot of effort into this, and that the guys (half of whom had never played a dnd game in the past) in the party really did a good job to stay interested. One complaint I have, however, is the OP of this post. My eyes legitimately hurt right now looking at it. It doesn't look bad, but it's extremely abrasive on the eyes, and I'd suggest changing around the contrast of the bright red/blackest black a little bit.
