Hey guys, I kind of fixed the problem I posted about one month ago..: + Show Spoiler +On September 03 2014 03:55 Joni_ wrote: So I tried downloading thw wc3:tft client from battle.net today to my Windows 8 Laptop, as Im currently staying in Hongkong for a year and dont have my desktop PC with me (obv...). The Client said the download was not authorized and redirected me to my battle.net/account page on which I could do exactly nothing but retry which led to the same problem.
Is there some kind of troubleshooting magic trick to solve this problem? I googled for quite some time and did not find any particularely helpful answers. Neither disabling my firewall nor resetting/reconfiguring proxy settings worked, nor running iexplorer with as low security as possible, even when setting it as default browser. I obv tried running the client in compatibility mode/as administrator..
I'm kind of helpless, anybody got any idea? At least to the point where I have a working wc3 with current version on my computer. Sadly it uses a different cd key (we just transferred the version my friend had set up to my computer..).
If I recall correctly there was some way to change the cd key and to artificially create a registry entry for warcraft, if needed for patching. (It is running the current version, but who knows, maybe finally UD will get buffed soon. ). Any idea what tools are trustworthy for that and will work on Win 8.1?
Id be very thankful for any advice, esp since the WCA is making us very hyped for playing the game more again.

Hey guys I just started playing again after watching wcg2013....is there a list of active players from TL?
|
Hey CalvinStorm! Welcome to the thread.
I'm not going to lie, the thread has been completely inactive for a couple of months.
We organized a small tournament some time ago, but there hasn't been much since. I'm sort of the one "in charge" of the thread, and I have been either busy or playing other games. Nonetheless, WC3 always pulls me back somehow.
Perhaps we could organize something else soon? That is a big perhaps, as I am currently planning a move abroad, but still...
Let us see what other people say!

Anyone who wants to play, PM me! I got inspired by attending WCA and playing with some Chinese players. I even started laddering!

this would be very cool! I loved WCIII but haven't played it in quite a long time.

There are increasing rumours of a "relaunch" of WC3.
Anyone heard anything of substance?
Depending on what it might really be (or if it's even true at all), I might become a whole lot more active on the game.

I'm not sure what it's about.
I do think it might happen. At least, I dearly hope so. I think we'll at least get decent servers and BNet 2.0 implementation (which isn't that great as BNet 2.0 is pretty bad, but it means no lag).
Because of all that, I'm really curious about BlizzCon. If they give us a legitimate relaunch with updated graphics (a man can dream), I will be extatic.
On another note, Grubby is doing more commentaries guys!
This one features Grubby in co-cast with ToD, for a game featuring ToD vs. Sky. It's really cool, check it out!

well they showed some WC3 heroes with the new engine so maybe somehow they updated some graphics. Also i would be happy if they just add WC3 to the bnet desktop and stay in the same bnet1.0
|
It's interesting to note that the engine used for both Starcraft II and Heroes of the Storm is the same as the one used for WC3. Blizzard has been using the same damn engine the whole time, they just tweak it along the way.
It means that if they willed, they could "remake" WC3 with the graphics of HotS.
It seems overly optimistic to hope for it though.

They need to fix the sc2/heroes engine before they make yet another awesome game based on it ><

Something enticing the Chinese found - Blizzard's General Manager of China tweets: "Perhaps the biggest surprise of this years Blizzcon is not a movie..."
The thing he is teasing for could be anything, really. But the Warcraft fanatics over in China are hoping for Warcraft 4. I myself would be satisfied with ANY Warcraft 3 related update. In any case, I'm starting to get really excited for Blizzcon.

Damn. You're getting me all hopeful over here.
I seriously doubt they'd announce WC4. It makes such little sense, what with SC2 not done and HotS in the works. Who would be working on it?
I really really hope it is a remake of sorts for WC3!
CMON!

WarCraft4 would be kinda insane, like a dark templar game development.
|
WC4 would be very interesting indeed!
I hope they will do a good job with it though ><

It really, really makes no sense though.
They have SC2:LotV on the way, HotS is also around the corner, plus the story of the Warcraft universe is being carried on through WoW. I just don't see how it could happen.
I am now really hoping for a legitimate remake and relaunch of WC3. Make it happen!
