I just saw this for the first time during this week's matches and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever watched.
I had very little understanding on the rules of Mafia but now I think I understand the basic rules (except other secondary roles like the Hypnotist).

so 1 question, the tweets on the top with donations, it seems like the players are spoiling what roles they are there/is there any way to avoid that? i mean 80% of the fun is having your own theories of who has what roles and if it keeps popping up who is what at the top of the screen who has what roles it ruins the fun B( or, rewatching this game now it seems like they were giving out false info? i dont know what to think anymore.
holy fuck if they had let suppy win there i would have raged. They had the plan of voting out suppy super early but then started FPSing as its called in poker (fancy play syndrome) and started accusing the 2 most townie people throughought the entire game who were not confirmed whereas all suppy had done was just sit there and be pretty quiet as they accused eachother. And it was super obvious it was suppy as he was just clinging to ribo being innocent as it was his only hope of winning, not because there was any good reason for it. started watching itr just a little bit last night and ended up watching the entire vod and now its 9 am

Meh so annoying. Watched all 3 intro videos and still dont have the slightest idea what this is about. After looking into some VODs, I assume it is some RPG?

Its people playing mafia over skype which is some sort of party game I guess? Its also often called werewolf, the way it goes is that there are Mafia\werewolfs ,villagers (and usually some extra roles like Cop\medic etc) and all roles are hidden, then it cycles through days and nights, at night the mafia\werewolfs kill people, and at day everyone (including the 'bad guys') votes for who they think is a killer who dies\gets lynched. Every game you start out with no information and then the villagers try to piece together who the bad guys are by what everyone says\how they act\who gets killed\who everyone votes for etc, whereas the bad guys obv try to survive as long as possible and kill everyone.

didnt know wthat the hypnotisit was either but they explained it so: its a player with a 1 time use ability which you use at night, and if you and your target survive the night, your target has to, in the morning within like 10 seconds of daybreak, say what role they are. like say "I am mafia" if they are mafia. Obviously people can also fake being hypno'd, or do like sheth and say "I am cop" the first day within 10 seconds even though he did not get hypnoed and cause like 30 minutes of discussion around it :p
so i just finished watchin the week with trump and it was fun might feel like watching another vod later but there is like 20 weeks or something out now, so just wondering if anyone has a game\vod which is extra awesome and worth looking into to recommend?

What makes you say that? From my experience mafia\werewolf is the exact same game just different name for the bad guys. Obv there are tons of different variations of both with different lynching and different roles but the core is generally the same. Or am I missing something here\you are talking about something compeltely different.
Edit: I Have a few questions though, think i asked it somewhere in the TL mafia threads but ill ask here to maybe can get some input from someone more experienced.
Is there any good resources for playing Mafia in real life? How many should you minimum be to have an interesting game, what should the distribution be, should you announce or not announce roles of dead people. Are there any good\better ways to choose targets\give out roles or just people covering their eyes and then the mafia wakes up points at who they kill? I guess things like communication between people of different roles is pretty much impossible to do in a real life mafia game?
Would like to try playing mafia in real life, ignoring the difficulty of finding enough likeminded people, not sure how the rules should differ from an online\forum mafia\werewolf game.

IRL mafia is complicated. Generally you need at least 12. I distrubte roles as:
mafia = #/3
cop = ciel(#/10)
medic = floor(#/10)
Sometimes you have to adjust the roles based on the experience of the players. There's not really communication between roles. At night, everyone puts their head down and closes their eyes, then the mod calls on roles 1 at a time to make their choices, which are done by pointing. Role flipping is an awful idea when playing live, never do it.

The donations were from viewers, and if any role claims were mentioned, they were just speculation and not spoilers. Funny that you mentioned FPSing as apparently Trump is famous for doing so when he plays forum mafia. Judging by how he played last week during live mafia, he still likes to do it a little :p

Save the Mayor meta (AKA The Mango Imperative)
Ok, so I have been watching and facepalming fairly regularly watching the code S mafia, as the mafia play gets further and further ahead of the town in its skill and sneakery. Most notably, Sheth, Ryuzilla and Neal ran a clinic on face-stomping town last week (in admittedly one of the most epic games of all time). One of the strongest town in code S, TheMango, has been frustratedly quoted as saying "I need to start playing worse town so i don't get lynched."
Not so, Mango! I believe I have a meta strategy that will help town start putting mafia on the back-foot in early game. I call it "The Mango Imperative."
In recent games, (bad) townies have had a habit of forgetting all the pro-town plays the "town mayor," (i.e. the most vocal town leader, I am not referring to the alternate official role) has made on day 1 and lynched him based on a verbal slip-up or just the fact that he stands out more than other players.
Here are the reasons that lynching said Mayor is a bad idea:
1. The Mayor is an obvious cop check night 1. Once Mayor is lynched, cop is likely forced to pick someone who is more or less a shot in the dark (he will probably have minor unsubstantiated suspicions on his target).
Suggested meta play: Save the Mayor! Cop must check him night 1, and if he is confirmed town, cop says nothing and lies low in order to get a night 2 check. This way the town can safely assume that cop has checked the town Mayor every game, and not have to worry about a meta-playing cop failing his duty to check the Mayor. Night 1 cop checks are less likely to reveal a mafia than later checks anyway, and it allows you to execute The Mango Imperative.
2. It puts an obvious target in front of cop and medic. The idea behind The Mango Imperative is that the role is taken on by a vanilla (no role) town. They are treated as a confirmed town and lead the charge in gathering information, pressuring people and going after mafia. This makes them very dangerous to leave in the game, and if Mafia don't have a good read on medic or cop, the town leader is a strong target (thanks to the implied cop check night one). In this way, a vanilla town can get things going for town, place himself between cop/medic and the mafia, and sacrifice himself to get the cop further into the game. He is also a strong medic save night 1, which might get you a double stack by mafia, in order to get the 1 confirmed town out of the mix.
(Alternatively, the medic might try and save someone else assuming mafia would rather kill 2 other townies in a hope of hitting medic or cop, but that's up to your meta philosophy. I will admit this Mayor position narrows the field for mafia when it comes to targeting the cop/medic, but his value is so great that in large games of 13 or more players, his value outweighs the dilution of the target pool).
3. It is one person guaranteed not to be mislynched night 1, narrowing your targets slightly and bettering your odds of getting a night 1 mafia lynch.
Here is how it screws the mafia:
It is simple for town! Even if the cop is killed early (night 0 or 1) the pressure of being town mayor, and the guarantee of a cop check mean that the only person who would step up to the role must be a Townie. The mafia will not know for sure that the cop is dead until later on in the game, so it is too dangerous to just try and take the role. This means the town never has to consider that the Mayor might have been mafia from the beginning.
Mafia can't cast suspicion on this guy. They have to kill him eventually. Anybody in late game who slips up and tries to cast suspicion on him will be an instant mafia suspect (because the town will not forget that he is "confirmed," but mafia might get desperate or make the mistake of sending suspicion his way).
Mafia will always have to consider that there could be a medic save on the Mayor. This will add complexity to the meta they have to use moving forward.
It pushes town forward out of the gates in a way that we haven't seen yet. They will have a strong leader and know that they aren't being intentionally misled. It will change the face of day 1 forever, from a wasteland devoid of any concrete reads to following a confirmed townie.
Cop will turn into a later game player, rather than a "shot in the dark and hope to come out day 1 or 2 with a mafia check." Remember, having the confirmed townie in front of cop and medic might turn cop into an average life-span of 4 or 5 days, rather than 2 or 3. This can especially be true if there is a general rule that medic comes out approximately day 4 as a sacrifice to try and confirm more townies and push the cop forward into a late game check.
It gives town another confirmed role. This is powerful because it ups the number of confirmable roles by 1. Before The Mango Imperative, there would have been confirmable roles of Cop, Vigilante, Medic (3). Now add mayor to the mix, and that number is 4. This will apply to every game, helping town immensely.
I will leave it at that for now, before this post gets too long. However, I look forward to The Mango Imperative being implemented into mafia games so the meta can evolve. I think it will give town the edge they need to become competitive again, because the Code S players have gotten extremely good as mafia.
Edit: A few people have expressed concerns that mafia could use this to derail town for half a day or more just arguing who should be the mayor.
Proper execution to prevent town derailment:
Town decides the mayor within 5 minutes of game start. Any longer is a waste of the town's time, and stalling should be seen as a mafia tactic. The beauty of this meta is that it does not matter who the mayor is, as long as they are a capable leader. Ideally someone who is valuable to remove suspicion from. Aside from that, you don't need to overthink it. Select the mayor and move on, he is guaranteed to be vetted by day 2.
