The only fighting game streams I've watched were Evo KoFXIII where CafeID dunked everyone, and some SSBM stream where Ken was casting, so I'm new to this stuff. Is this just state all-kill team tournament? I thought California is like a heavy favorite in fighting games. If you were talking about the team tournament, it was to find out which region is the best internationally. The game they were playing was UMvC3, which is probably the most played fighting game at the moment. (If you're familiar with the arcades of old, you might remember Marvel 1 and 2).

Was not at all ready for the kensou and vice matchups. Bit sad, one match away from top 16. Marvel and tekken pools tomorrow ![]() Aw, tough luck dawg. So apparently, Fanatiq threw the match vs Chris G in losers because he thinks Chris has the best chance of winning. We at that point right now? Throwing games for teammates?

SC2 is basically the only game where this doesn't happen, because it's a big enough spectator sport that they count on the players finishing every match. But really it's unenforceable because you can't force somebody to try and beat the other guy.

Aside, pot splitting is when 2 (or more) parties decided to split the pot in a finals regardless of the outcome. It isn't an agreement to throw games, and as far as i know no finals with pot splitting in effect results in one side throwing to another. The pride is still there, and if ppl think these guys seriously plays for prize money at fighting games major they're dumb. FGC pots aren't like 50k esport pots lol.

Sorry but you're just completely wrong. People often enter tournaments with agreements to split a % of their winnings before the tournament has even begun. If they have a 50/50 split then it makes sense for them to pick whoever is better to continue when they face each other in losers. I assume that's what happened, but even if Fanatiq is just a nice guy and conceded for his friend, what's wrong with that? You can't force someone to play if they don't want to. And for what it's worth, Chris G and Fanatiq both play fighting games for a living, it's their primary source of income.

The reason why pot splitting is an openly acceptable thing in the FGC is because it doesn't affect game qualities for viewers and tournament integrity for players. Because no one throws. When one dude decides to lose because the other one is gonna pay him dough, that's bribing, and that's an entire different issue. And fucking really? He doesn't play because he doesn't want to? What the fuck world are you living in, lol. Since when, ever, is it even remotely acceptable for you to throw? You enter a tournament, you have the obligation to play the best you can to win. Being elder statesmen of the community like those two they should know that better than most. Apparently, the reason why Fanatiq threw game is that it would promote pdp a lot better to have someone make podium finish. To me, it seems like a really low blow to Larry and Spooky who banned him from promoting stuff on stream. It's basically saying "hey, if you ban me from doing that I'm just gonna violate tourney integrity to get our stuff promoted either way." Disgusting. Oh, and for what it's worth, if Fanatiq depends on fighting game money to live on the nigga would be homeless, lol. In case you didn't know, pretty much every "sponsored" player in the FGC except for the FGTV associates have a day job. Fanatiq has music gigs. Yipes has a job. Justin has a job. Chris G has a job. No one is rolling in fighting games money in any means.

No one is rolling in fighting games money in any means. You're free to your opinion on the rights/wrongs of conceding matches, but pretty much everything else you said is completely incorrect. I know this is a Starcraft forum, but please don't go spewing assumptions as fact when you don't know anything about the scene or the players within it. But yeah, I've always thought it should be acceptable to let players concede/split/whatever if they feel the need to, in any game. In reality, you can't enforce it, so why make them put on a show if they've already prearranged the outcome ahead of time? These guys are playing for money, whether you'd like to believe it or not. Fanatiq most of all. They will do what's in their best interests.
