Although I've only played for a week, I think I can clear a lot of things up. Newb protection is really messed up: on servers 1,2, and 3, it can last anywhere from 1 week to a month. It tells you that it lasts for a week in the welcome message, but in reality, it usually lasts more. My newb protection on server 2 lasts 18 days. There is only 1 way to find out how long your protection really lasts: by getting someone to attempt to attack you. If you try to attack someone who's under newb protection, it will tell you when it will end. So far, I've heard reports of people on server 4 who had UNDER 1 week of newb protection, and some people with newb protection of OVER 1 week. But anyway, you shouldn't worry too much because everyone just started, and chances are, no one will raid you if you have over 2 or 3 population. And even if they do, simply build a cranny. Another thing - when you do raid someone, you have to send at least 2 units. If you send 1 unit, no matter what, IT WILL DIE. Even if you attack a village with 2 pop and absolutely nothing else. If you are Gaul, you will have to send at least 13 or 14 phalanx, because their attack is a bit weaker, to prevent any casualties. Romans and Teutons only require 2 units. Now about the build order - I think most of you have already realized this, but you should only upgrade resources fields first. Listen to FakeSteve and follow the guide in the forums. It's a good guide. EDIT: Again, like FS said, BE PATIENT! It will take about 9 or 10 days before you should start getting troops to raid, but it will be worth it. | ||
