I've been fooling around with my mouse settings and all the guides/youtubers are saying use 450 dpi and 1.5-3.5 sensitivity, but holy crap mang that is stick in the mud slow. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or is there something I'm missing. Yes, I have my mouse set to 6/11.

I got windows sens on 6/11 too, 1100 dpi and 3.9 sens and it works fine for me. I've gradually been lowering it slightly the past few weeks. I doubt I will set it much lower than that. I seem to get kills fine, it's more my map movement and shit that needs work T_T

A lot of them maybe play on really low resolutions too from what I've heard, that's the only reason I could see to put it that low. 1.5 would be impossible for me to play at.

If you ever want to be accurate at long range with a rifle, it's basically mandatory to have as low sens as possible that still allows you to 180 with one swipe across your mousepad @ whatever res you prefer. 1100/3.9 seems waaaaaaaaaay too high. Don't know how you'd ever hit an AK shot from pit to A plat on D2. Lower DPI gives you way more precision control at range that allows you to be more accurate in those situations. Yes, it will seem slow if you've played with high DPI for a long time in other games, but it's the only way to have control over where you're shooting.

Yes, a lot of pros play on lower res, but even at 1920, most of them still play in the 450/1.5-3.5 range.

I currently play at 800/3 (down from 800/6). Felt very slow in the beginning now it feels natural as if it has never been different. Dunno if I want to go lower for now. Range seems ok for now and atm. I have more problems with getting hit from behind because on my skill niveau I can't count on my team mates at all to cover important spots/sites. They just run off at the most stupid times without saying anything. So for now it's important that I can turn quickly enough.

The mouse discussion has come up already a couple pages ago: somebody said (and I confirmed it with testing) that mouse sensitivity is resolution-independent in CS:GO (so if you play at 1024x768 for example or 1920x1080 doesn't make a difference when it comes to sensitivity).

Low-sensitivity feels REALLY weird at first, like so slow that it must be a mistake, but it's not - it's all about what you're used to. You will need an extra large mousepad of course and then just go to 400DPI 1.6 sens and do some aim practice for a day or two, you won't be able to go back very soon. It really does wonders to your forward aim (and make turning around much harder/impossible).

I even went down from 1.6 to 1.3 at 400DPI because I like it even more.

Can only really play one game a night tho coz of other commitments so really unserious stuff

But i am completley fucking blind - like shit blurs upwards so long a into pit for me is nigh on impossible in source ... in csgo its not so bad for some reason.

Resolution-wise I've actually just now switched from 1920x1080 to 1024x768 stretched to 16 : 9 and I like it more. Gives me a bit more FPS (and my computer needs it, I'm only around 80fps on average ingame) and it does kinda help me aim a bit. I plan on switching back to 1920x1080 once I have build my new computer and FPS isn't an issue anymore.

I started playing in 1024x768 too (with black bars tho) cause even with a good computer you can't get 150 constant fps on 1080p. On top of that, I find the sniper scope bars to be so thin on max res, that I kind of prefer playing on 768. The blurry effect is annoying though, but my old CRT screen died

I need to buy a good 144hz monitor with blur reduction..
