Is being promoted back to back something common in lower ranks? I started out in gold nova 2, lost a rank after a couple of games, spent a certain amount of time in 1 and my two last games brought me to 3. I was kinda shocked that I've gained 2 ranks so quickly but at the same time, I was happy since my last game was my best one to date K/D wise.

Yes this happened to me when I first started playing (February iirc) and a week ago.

I was stuck at silver 4 for 2-3 weeks straight and then I just started jumping up ranks hardcore, within 2 days I was at Nova 3. Then I went to nova 2, back to nova 3 for about a week, then was stuck at nova 2 for another 2-3 weeks and then jumped up ranks again, nova 3, nova 4, mg1 then to mg2 and now stuck at mg1. Expecting to be stuck at mg1 a long time

Well maybe tomorrow Ill get supreme. Doesnt help when you have to play against summit and n0thing to get there.

Loads of hackers (who were obviously up higher in ranks) we banned in recent vac waves. This has reduced the number of higher level players, and therefore the system automatically promotes people so that the actual distribution matches the expected distribution as closely as possible.

This is so true cuse i was MGE on my bro's acc and then i got a promotion to DMG even if i like played mostly with MGE/MG2 players with few DMG players.
Was totally weird how i got promoted so fast :D.

The Katowice sale also brought a lot of new players to the game. The rank pools probably got bigger and the most of the new folks were placed on some of the lower ranks, pushing the more experienced players up the ladder.

jesus getting so fed up of MM, i know it's not valve fault since I'm always playing solo and always getting vs 3 or more stack is really infuriating, finally climbed with a good streak to MGI and now I'm back to gold nova III, i try communicating with team i try everything i can do climb playing solo but it's just god damn rage inducting :|

Wow, haven't played in two weeks. First game I win on Inferno 16-10, rank up to 4 star. Next game we go down 12-3 as T on Nuke and we come back to win 16-14 and I go something terrible like 12-20 and I rank up to MG1, which I've never gotten close to (I usually stick around between 2 and 3 star). Now I'm scared to play because AKs have always scared me and now I am one XD. Good that they are banning hackers though.

Yeah people are shooting up in ranks. My friends who have been like 1-3 star since the game came out are all 4 star or MG.

Dunno how this tournament works. How come the first 2 groups have only 3 teams? Is there an open bracket to place teams into those groups? Or is it cuz the highest seed teams are in them?
