That's because people in AK/Double AK still don't know what they're doing. Honestly the "decent" players start showing up at legendary eagle master and above, but so do the cheaters.

I haven't noticed as many cheaters recently at SMFC level. Guess a new sale will change that though.

Hu. I don't agree. Especially in 1vX or clutch situations, silver/nova ranks have absolutely NO IDEA of how to fake/brain/play it out. And the aim is questionable at best. I did all those ranks these past two months, the amount of time you can stay alive with a guy on your screen is decreasing by a lot when you go up. I agree with you on smokes, but other nades, crosshair placement and strategy, not at all.

I dont agree. In Silver/Nova aiming, strategy and tactics are nonexistant or just done very poorly. In Ak to double AK ppl start to aim and it gets tighter and faster with every level. There are also a lot more strategys, Smokes/flashes etc. Clutching as already said is also just coming through on these levels.
Playing on nova ranks is is very easy and relaxing. You can miss half a magazin and still win a 1on1. While in Double Ak ist a lot more "instant death". When I play with my silver buds or low gold novas I get frustrated all the time. e.g. I sneak to a spot and suddenly one of my mates is starts running from behind, throwing a nade and ultimately showing off where we push instead of leaving me getting 1-2 opening frags.
Eagle and above for me seems to be just more accurate on aiming and reading the game a whole lot better. But saying there is no strat or not knowing what they are doing is completely wrong in my eyes for MG2 and MGE. MG1 though seems to be a lot more like gold nova skill. I dont see a big difference between GN2 and MG1

I would agree with this. I'm ak but I still don't know what i'm doing all the time. I could still use better aim/positioning on some maps/etc.
I still feel like I belong in nova :p

Maybe you're like me and play with friends much better than you and then your ranks go up too high ? I'm Nova 2 i think but i barely play. Problem my friends are double AK or badge (sheriff ?). So they make me up a lot but i barely kill people when i'm playing with them.

I have one major problem with ranks in this game as well. Most of the time, I play with friends that are all GN or even below while I play on double AK range. Still we lose so many games that my rank goes down to 3 star and back to AK sometimes. Basically, I feel that I am sacrificing my rank (and fun to play) for being social with ppl I know. And I don't wanna soloqueue because I can't stand playing with yet another russian guy who ruins this game even more than my low skill friends. No offence, but 90% of the times I see a player with cyrillic letters in his nick or chat and has 90+ ping, we lose badly because of TK, being afk, not understanding a damn whats going on on the map or not caring about teamplay in general. It might be just bad luck or coincidence that these guys are russian (or russian speaking) but I had the same in dota2 which made me quit playing that alltogether.
|
Well I'm not sure how that's a "problem" they can fix. What do you want them to do? .
|
What they can do: split the servers in different regions. What I can do: find ppl (similar to my rank) to do only premade games.
|
Oh well yeah I was more talking about the premade part
That does suck about getting stuck with Russians. Now that I think about it I used to get into pugs with Brazilians all the time and that usually sucked too due to their ping and language issues. Haven't had that happen in a long time though not sure what the deal is.

A few months back, before Christmas maybe, Valve gave Brazil their own servers. I've seen lots of EU guys start complaint threads on reddit etc to give Russians their own servers.
If you're worried about your rank playing with lower ranked friends, either get a smurf when the game's on sale, or suck it up. Not much else you can do about that.
|
It is not only the language and the ping, it is the attitude they have for a _team_ game. I had russian classes at highschool an am able to understand some basics but most of the things you hear from them are: "noob", "blyat" and "axaxaxaxax" while being 1:14 not doing anything for the game.

I took a break for like 2 months and started playing with people basically new to cs after that. I was at single ak rank before the break and close to ranking up again, but i dropped to silver elite master ( what a name) before my friends learned how to play and i got back in shape enough to carry them (earlier having 35-40 frags a match wasn't enough -.-).
Now we are playing in silver 4-5 range and I have to say, games are super relaxing here, people barely switch spots on CT, Ts run in one by one, nades are completely random(most smokes help the enemy team more than the throwers team).
On the matter of clutches, this low in ranks people don't check every corner when entering a site, gl retaking it 1v2 ever. You spectate them and half of the site you know nothing about

Promoted to badge, playing with maedi so mostly against eagles and getting shit on recently. Some friends bought the game and they wanted to just jump into competitive match making. Jumped on a friends sliver account so the MMR difference was small and had back to back 55 kill games. While refreshing to shit on kids and feel good, I'd rather get shit on by better players and try to improve myself than smurf. Just got boring and wasn't fun. I don't know how people smurf and have fun. I find myself wanting to figure out what I'm doing wrong Vs eagles in order to become better a lot more fun.

lol it was the same with brazilians, but they had like 150 ping... running all over the place trying to get frags just for the sake of it or quitting the game because you went down 3-0 after losing the pistol round, calling ppl noobs, playing loud music over the radio and so on... its like they should make a server for both russia and brazil. that way they could play each other with atrocious ping and massive amounts of bm

lol, so much elitism over the pass few posts. There are 18 ranks in the game guys. There isn't a distinct rank where players are super bad, which happens to be the rank below you, and the rank after is instant death with everyone being aware of all the skills, which happens to be the rank you are on.

Skill and its assessment has always been a particularly blustery thing in CS.
|
Well, in my experience most AK's can't aim any better than low gold nova. But they throw far far better smokes/flashes (and more of them).

I often play with Durak and other high ranked players (double AK, badge, eagle) and I will say, it has been a trial by fire as a relatively new player, but I have learned extremely quickly. When I go back to playing with novas, I have a far better idea of what I should be doing, even if my aim with rifles is still sub par. I often lead my team strategically and about half the time in frags.
The biggest thing you can do in soloqueue is keep a confident, positive attitude and play aggro, at least at my rank. I have noticed that better players tend to play far better against this style, but novas often fail their peeks and make a lot of noise when they push. Gaining information and calling the position of enemies is a skill that I can contribute even as a player who does not have the aim to compete 1v1 at higher ranks.
EDIT: Sn0, I have seen you in the TL thread for every game I play. DOTA, CS, SSBM, POE, and mafia. Lol. Add me on steam and we should play. I'm extraexist.

I'm Gold Nova 1 and looking for people to play with. I've partied with MG's a few times and done relatively well but soloqueue is such a roll of the dice in terms of teams and I'm often votekicked by my team out of spite even though I am 10-15 frags ahead of the second person on my team, just so they can surrender the game, so frustrating.
I play in Europe.
