The game is just much more fun when everyone works somewhat coordinated. U should see when u have 5 ppl and everybody is shouting calls at start of the round :D :D . Everyone wants 2 be the leader i guess .

Is it just the smoothness of the cancel and shooting that makes it appear as the player has not stopped/is walk shooting? How can I emulate this? (video of example)

Particularly, crosshair and where bullets went. In this other game, bullets could only land inside the crosshair. It would move (recoil) when you fired - and expand (bloom) when you fired or moved/jumped/etc, both different amounts and different ways depending on the gun etc, but it was very solid in that bullets could only go within X area, even if X area was half of your screen while you were falling and being shot to death With CSGO i seem to have a hard time hitting people, i can single-tap-fire 10 shots and then it seems only one or two of them connect, but it does not feel like i am messing it up that badly. I'm somewhat accurate, playing with about 25-30cm/180 right now with a deathadder 3.5g and qck+ at 1800dpi (basically, nothing screwy on the input-side, as far as i know) There was a few mechanics in this game, like when you scoped with sniper, there were bars at left/right of scope that were varying levels of full/empty depending on if you were moving slowly/fast, if you were shot etc, that determined your accuracy. There were a few techniques such as switching direction and firing when your speed was ~0 to get a basically pixel perfect shot while still moving on a gun that otherwise could not shoot that way (shot would just fly randomly) ^I feel like there's stuff like that that i'm missing with CSGO. I have no idea where bullets will go, aside from hopefully in the general direction of the middle of my screen http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=9mpITZdZJAI That video is beautiful ;w;

For additional info on gun control 101, here's a slightly more recent video. They both cover about the same basics, but I'm not too sure if the "wiggle" that adren refers to is still in the game. I remember there were some patches about doing things like that but not sure if it applied to this stuff. Is it just the smoothness of the cancel and shooting that makes it appear as the player has not stopped/is walk shooting? Basically, yes. IIRC there was a video that described exactly this, but I can't seem to find it so =(. To improve more on strafe shooting, just play some aim maps on community servers that will really drill strafe shooting into you. Or play deathmatch, that works too. Additional video on crosshair placement by adren.

I didn't check the guides Nagisama linked but I assume they answer your question about the guns They all have a unique behavior, some can't be expected to hit accurately at long or even mid range, and spraying takes practice to control.About straffing and shooting, I think you need to tap the opposite direction to stop your character from moving. If you're strafing left, tap right, shoot, move right, tap left, shoot, etc

I don't remember what they are by default but I think you need to set them higher (rate 128000 cl_updaterate 128 cl_cmdrate 128 cl_interp_ratio 1 cl_interp 0 iirc). The hits should register better, sadly the official valve servers are only 64 tickrate which is not that good. Can you refer to preferential values of these settings? I was also always using the default settings, so i might see improvement, too. Also thanks for the tips and videos everyone!

Why isn't it default? how do i open console? -console into launch options, set a shortcut ingame, press shortcut :p It sets the max download/upload rate the game can use, so I guess they set it lower by default in case you're playing on dialup or whatnot, to avoid people bitching about how they can't play or they are getting disconnects. It was the same in 1.6 and source. Note that the servers will auto adjust update and cmdrate if they need to lower it, so just set it to 128 in the console and don't be bothered if you open the netgraph and see them on 64, it's just the 64 tickrate server lowering them automatically. They'll go back to 128 if you play on a 128 tickrate.
