If you're solo self-found, you really should just play it and delete your characters if they die.
There's no difference whatsoever from a solo self-found perspective between HC and SC besides your own will since you don't interact with the economy or other players (the only two things that change between SC and HC).

You would either need an insane amount of stun duration and reduction or a ton of damage. So probably not.

Ton of damage when every node you take is a damage node doesn't seem that out of the question though

How does your mindset change when absolutely nothing about your solo self-found game experience is any different? Does having "hardcore" in the league name mean that much to you?

I loved onslaught cause it was a straight and defined increase in difficulty compared to vanilla. With Nemesis the whole "Figure out what stuff does so it doesn't kill you" started but was also very obviously defined (except for everyone's darling corrupting blood which was the only exception) and you generally learned very quickly what things did / the names and visuals made it obvious.
Invasion (especially early on) was a combination of shit you had zero chance of understanding / reading from its names and visuals and on top of that it was way over tuned. I felt it was a really dumb design choice overall for a HC environment.

I dunno if I'm happy the league is not hardcore... I usually prefer to play softcore on long leagues, but 1 month is a mid-thing. On short races (like 2 week) I enjoy hardcore more for sure. Also hoped for something different, now they're just testing a combination of old map mods. Kinda boring. Will play though.

There is a big difference though. On hardcore, the game forces you to restart when you die, on softcore, you do that. Mindset wise it's not really the same.

Funnily enough, I actually like that this is softcore. The crazy league combinations + the fact that I've been eyeballing a lot of softcore builds lately mean that I like the choice of league. I wouldn't have fun getting nuked down by something like onslaught invaders/storm heralds, but the fact that it is softcore means I can laugh it off and enjoy dying whilst filling the screen with CoC fireballs and ABs.
Also, I'm considering making a ridiculous flameblast build with the Pledge of Hands, current name is The Nuclear Option.

I think I'll probably play this one softcore, then go hardcore for the 4 month. This 1 month league is just waaay too crazy for hardcore, personally.
