I had the same experience when I hit there as Marauder for the first time last Descent. I cleaved a pack with a (bad) weapon, killing one, and evaporated instantly. Fun stuff. Also, turbo solo rogues are pretty damn fun. If I hadn't wiped to Igna on tidal island despite amazing gear from the exile in the first zone (couldn't equip his mediums yet), I would have done pretty well. She is eeeeeeevil.

Farmed ledge exiles until lvl 11 with +1 fireball, so many rares so little hp rolls on any of them. finished at lvl 16 17th overall not bad for a class thats next to impossible to play in lethal races, using a melee build. Went elemental cleave through most of the race. I could facetank exiles up to prisoners, but the ones in coves were hitting me for like 1/3 of my hp, if i ever try that race again ill likely try to go 1h+ shield cleave.

As for champions, if your dps is above ~120, you can do the same thing and they're no problem. Rares you really have to engage 1v1 and hope they don't discharge twice. Burning Arrow their face and pray. I don't remember the last time I died in that zone, sometimes with no lightning resist at all. I actually farm this zone now. It's very good XP as long as you don't keep running into rare dischargers camping doors. Then you can skip more of those stupid curtains in the next zone and still get to Hall close to 20. Varanice, ideally Rangers mostly run through the Abyss as well. You only need level 11 from that zone, and our dps is terrible at that point. RoA is obviously a godsend to clear daughters, but the zone is still bad XP and dangerous. @Zoroxo, Congrats! So far ahead of the 2nd duelist as well =)

Ideally, you'd kill them in two hits, but three is fine. If it takes 4 hits (<90dps), they might not get chain stunned and hope you have 300+hp and positive lightning resist. I see Pwere up there at 10th again - you seem to be managing 21 every single race, which is pretty great consistency!

At this point I don't even know what to improve, aside from simply playing faster. Gotta figure out how Cobait is always 5 minutes ahead of everyone by the end of Abyss. The 3rd place for Ranger is now 1.7M anyway :-/

It's so hard to tell since I'm normally just aoe'ing down everything and am killing all kinds of mobs at the same time. Alright. Yeah, usually when you are in a race setting you just clear the pack around the necro once and then move on. It's not worth trying to fight the tide of stuff to get to the necro.

(non descent) I ran the 90 minute race as a ranger today, it was that onslaught/totems solo race and I had no idea what I was doing. My route looked like this, rush hillock, rush all the way through to the submerged passage WP, then tp back to do the medicine chest and get the quicksilver. Once I did that I just tp'd back to the submerged passage, cleared ledge and then farmed out lower/upper prison. Was incredibly slow though with all the totems, and I had brutus desyncing all over the place so I just stayed in upper/lower prison and farmed. It depends on class. I assume you are looking for a Ranger? I usually race Duelist, but the Ranger plan would probably be something like try to rush to Ledge with Rain of Arrows for aoe and burning arrow for single target, possibly fire trap too, don't remember the rewards off the top off my head. (I think you could also do Poison Arrow, but I think that's pretty dependant on you dropping a +bow gem, bow fairly early on.) You probably have the easiest Brutus fight of any class because you can circle strafe away from his chain. (You could probably kill him without ever getting hit if you played it perfect.) Then rush to Merveil, try to get a sapphire, otherwise just tp spam so you don't die. Then either rush Western/Sins/Fellshrine depending on your preference. I prefer Sins as a Duelist, but Western/Fellshrine would probably be better depending on your gear.
