Don't meet the strength requirement to use the lvl6 axes so have terrible dps until lvl10\11 weapons. 45 mins to kill merveil O_O Ive only tried playing ranger in a solo race once in the last week, and I went cleave, I thought the idea was to start out with cleave since split arrow is trash, and keep going with it until you find a suitable bow to use RoA with? Either way I never found I had a large problem with str, since usually what holds cleave builds back is a lack of Agi to use the faster weapons, you normally only need one or the other can you not simply use an agate amulet? I did die in the race I was playing, got shotgunned by the revamped LMP fireball unique monster in anger, after having gone cleave the whole race, was 9th overall and 2nd ranger when I died. Though goratha had a huge lead on me at the time. I'm pretty sure I remember using whalebone rapiers at 7, and doing fine with them. The phys 1 hand and sword nodes in ranger tree are pretty good either way, but you do end up fairly glass cannon I guess. Yeah rangers lack strenght, and duelists lack dex. They both get it on lvl9 assuming standard race spec. But the lvl6 axes seems to drop a lot more than the lvl7 swords in my experience. And the start really is everything in 1 hour races. Once you get going you can do pretty decent as cleave ranger, you can even get the lightning aura instead of the frost aura, which scale really good with fast weapons.

Last time I tried on a descent as shadow, made it to the ribbon zone for the first time. Everytime I'm watching someone stream that zone, they always seem to get massive packs of small ribbons. My ribbon zone had more large fireball/arc ribbons than small ribbons. Pots ran out into death lol.
Haven't really raced super hard since the end of season 1, but starting to get back into it when I find time. Season 2 was a bust for me because of them giving out the same demis.

The ribbon zone is a huge RNG roll. Getting tons of curtains ruins it, and you simply have to run through it and hope for a good Hall. Probably the zone with the largest gap between mob types. Abyss can get annoying with lots of daughters, and Statues can roll tons of non-brittle, but curtains are much, much worse, mostly in a zone where you actually need the XP.
Plus, that zone desyncs a lot and curtains tend to camp you out in large rooms through doorways, making it the worst zone in the entire race. I've started farming the discharger zone a lot more and skipping most of ribbons, with decent success.

I placed 29th overall in the 1h Turbo Rogue, but I think I played way too safe. I have no experience with exiles really so I guess I really overestimated their power. I should have just rushed for chamber of sins and not played as safe as I have with 3 ledge runs and stuff, oh well.

Samething here. Got 19th, 7th duelist. Had insane gear but no clue what I was doing. My only experience with exiles is in the Hall of Heroes, and I figured they'd be impossible on turbo so I just avoided them. Apparently, most of them were pretty easy, so I would have easily saved a few minutes and won sweet gear/XP.
But how the hell do you get lvl 22 in a turbo race? I'm not even sure I could do it in a normal 1h race...

Yeah cwu is insanely good. Seeing as we both mainly play ranger I think it's understandable that we are not that good with duelist. At some point you have to go two-handed leap slam, but I have no idea when exactly or what weapon is the best for that, etc... (or which mobs I can leap slam and which I have to avoid.. not enough experience)
Not too bothered though seeing as I prefer to race with ranger anyway. It's just 1h turbo races are really hard with ranger and not very enjoyable so I'd rather go duelist in that type of race.

I have a very strange problem with PoE i might aswell ask here if anyone ever had any similar experice. While leveling my onslaught character about a month ago i noticed around level 50-60 that im getting close to no currecy drops. The issue became so bad that i started to be unable to play the actual game. In about 100 city of sarns runs and maybe like 60 maps i have found around 10 id scrolls 4 tp scroll and 4 transmutes. I wrote to ggg support and they said nothing seem to be wrong. Last few days i tryed leveling some new characters, on average after leveling 2 characters to lvl 20 i got 1-2 id scrolls and no other kind of currency. So i made a new account and leveled 5 new characters to level 5 on my old account and 5 characters to lvl 5 on my new account. On average i got 0-1 id scroll on my account and a variety of scroll, scaps, wheatstones and orbs on the new account. I contacted ggg support again but i'm not sure what to expect.

That doesn't explain anything since new characters wouldn't be affected by it and maps are never affected. Even City of Sarn only has a 12.5% drop penalty at most.

For some reason my character kept desycning at tp'ing to 15 mobs + exile in upper submerged. Had to log out twice there and run from mud flats... Also the bear trap/EK exile bear trapped me in a chokepoint with suiciders running to me in cavern of anger so had to log there as well. By the time I hit merveil I had 75 cold resist and killed her with only 1 sip of a medium hp pot...

I started 10 minutes late in the 1H AI rouge race and ended up at almost level 13 at 85th place.
|
Well what the hell. I was 9th overall, did extremely well 16 mins before the end and I enter a room with 5 blue dischargers and all teleport on me and discharge simulatenously. Kripp goes in that room, they don't even discharge once. What kind of stupid RNG is that? Why do discharge mobs arbitrarily discharge whenever they feel like it? There is absolutely no consistency in it and it removes so much skill from the game, because if you are lucky you get to move on, if you are not you get insta-gibbed. Very frustrating.

oh shit Zoroxo in the lead right now. gogo!
|
Grats Zoroxo, #1 overall! I felt I had a pretty good start this race, but failed in 5 chaos to get damage on my composite bow... Got to merciless and wasn't killing stuff quickly at all, so didn't even make 21.
|
Fuck yes new personal best, got number 12 ranger, 59 overall. First top 100 finish! Congrats on your number 1 Zoroxo!
EDIT: 14 ranger not 12 haha.

2x 60 ipd with attack speed swords baby! I cleared whole spider zone, so the guy that had the zone lead was 2 zones ahead of me at some point. But noticed since I had good levels and gear that I didn't struggle in neither statue nor frost so felt pretty confident to top5. Got #1 sometime during the Perpertus zone and the guy that progressed first in zones was suddenly like less than 10 seconds in front of me. Started playing pretty safe after that, killed 2 exiles even.
Also found 15% ms boots in skeletal cavern, ended up regaling them for lightning res which really helped in Merciless

So that was the first time I've made it to the discharger room......any tips o_O? Those bastards hurt so I had to slow wayyy down when I hit that section.

Pray to the RNG gods they don't discharge, or turn into Kripp who can just run through that zone without getting discharged once. God it must feel good when RNG is on your side.

Kill them before they kill you. If you're cleave just rightclick them from range so you instakill them when they flicker onto you. And shiftcleave once you killed the first one since targetting stuff can be a pain at times.

He's ranger, we don't have something as nice as cleave lol. With ranger if dischargers teleport on you and insta-discharge you either have to hope they don't crit or you are simply toast. I got insta-gibbed by 5 dischargers, there really isn't anything you can do. Rain of Arrows isn't insta-hit, it actually takes a second to hit the target.
