1. Definition of skill: A skill is the learned ability to carry out pre-determined results often with the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both. So, skill and knowledge and not mutually exclusive. Most skills in life need large amounts of knowledge. 2. I've never had someone PM me back saying I ripped them off. Usually they are just really happy to get the item. Nothing forces them to sell and nothing forces them to buy. If they are so concerned that they will be scammed then they should be doing research into the price of an item.

It's really hard to learn the value of things in PoE if you're not in a dedicated group. It takes time, people get scammed, and they get frustrated. Nobody wins, and that's the flaw of the system. Sure you can say that it's a skill; salesmen build entire careers around it. But at its core, it's unproductive and increases friction in any community. And that's why I agreed. The current state of trading is tolerable at best, but it's also a hard problem to solve, which is probably why the devs have been working on it for months with very little to show for it.

But there are people in the trade chats just waiting to scam noobs out of their high level currencies, and it works. Just like there were people/bots on the D3 AH just refreshing to find mispriced items (i.e. 500k instead of 5M), and people lowballing every decent auction right before servers went down. I agree.Unless you are very experienced there is no way to know the real values of all items. And researching values are very time consuming and anti fun element of the game. Also it is really abusable system. When I try to buy or sell stuff at trade chat I always get messaged by some scammers.I think some players are just scamming others as their main income.

These players only do it because it is so profitable. It is easily the most efficient method to making money in almost any online game ever played I dare say. It's much faster to get rich if you're willing to get your hands dirty.

just now failed the famine turbo race. was #1 overall at times, since i got a 40% physical dmg rare driftwood maul from hillock ^^... died as #19 from massive amount of exploders (like wtf, they were streaming at me...), brutus took me so much time. couldn't risk doing him earlier than lvl 10 and when i did him i had to make a tp and go ledge to re-fill my potions. -_- both goratha and mors did overtake me though, so i didn't lose a potential #1 mara. they were far ahead of me when i died. do you guys care about the points? idk, i wanted the eye of chayula amulet and have it now. other things don't really appeal me. perhaps rainbowstride, but that's too many points >_<

Edit: Damn, had such a shitty start. I had no green socket on anything so I couldn't use a short bow before level 7. Found the unique coral amulet which gave me a huge survival boost, but I was pretty far behind already and had low dps. Then I rolled a sick composite bow and went from 44 to 135dps, so I could catch up a bit and hit lvl 19. Killed two exiles and was destroying the hall of heroes. Was probably close to 50k xp per minute at that point :-/

The most fun spots usually happens when you want to buy a cheap item with a stable price (e.g. I tried to buy a LMP earlier) and like 5 people whisper you with "1 alch" / "1 fuse" and then there's this one guy that whispers you with linking the item and "2 chaos".

They'll probably greatly buff all the melee/shield/crit nodes, and throw in some mana, now that Mana Flows is hidden in the Duelist tree. I'd expect them to throw in some sort of Versatility (+str/int). ps. That node is definitely OP. pss. If I know my Ranger icons, middle left is the new one (Primal Spirit), bottom left is Finesse, top left is Perfect Aim, bottom right is Weapon Artistry + Heart of the Panther. Top Right is a new icon, probably the replacement for Greater Impact. Middle is a new icon, between two stun defense nodes. Looks like the Heart of a Tree? Possibly life + stun resist. psss. Rangers are about to be twice as popular in races... Good thing the learning curve is pretty steep =)

My main reasons for changing the spec around are that they nerfed most of the elemental damage nodes, buffed how physical damage works, and buffed the physical nodes. With this in mind, I retooled the build to still use Conductivity and shock stacks, but to have both physical and elemental damage passives, as well as leveling Cleave to 20 rather than stopping at 5. Bandit rewards are 40 life, 8% attack speed, skill point.

Suprisingly enough overcharging works a lot of the time. If someone really wants something they will usually pay a bit extra. When I started my elemental hit templar (kripp spec) I ended up paying 2 chaos for ranged attack totem and 3 chaos for elemental hit, just because I wanted to go back to killing stuff instead of spamming trade chat. But yeah I wish there was more stable prices in general. Yesterday I was in some random map group, and I asked what Moonsorrow was worth (unique imbued wand), only answer I got was "3-12 chaos". So since I had above average rolls on mine I tried selling it for 8. And 1 guy ended up shit talking me in whispers...

Some things affect this, such as the desperation of the person, and then quantity available in the current league. Even if it's an established value there's some fluctuation. Like for example, i'm trying to flip a Lioneye's in Anarchy and I needed to sell one of my Exalts for Fusings. Currently the rate is anywhere from 100-120:1 depending on which side initiates, how desperate they are, and how lenient they are. So I waited until someone was spamming trade chat a couple times trying to sell his Fusings for Exalts, and I messaged him offering my ex for 130, he countered 120, and we split 125. If I wouldn't have waited for him to post first, I would have been surprised to get more than 110 for my ex. (I ended up 5Ling it around 25 fusings left. It's got a near perfect roll too now. I can post the link to the thread on the forums if someone really wants to see/buy it for some reason.)
