Hm, I see. I wonder how much ES I should be looking for on a piece to consider keeping it. Also Claw stats, which I am unfamiliar with. I don't have to use Claws for a while, but soon after the transition, I will.
And no, I'm not. Gems are very sparse with me right now, since I'm mostly self-found, and this is my first Onslaught character.
[Edit] If it helps, this is the final build (last leg of it would be getting those 10 ES nodes just above the centre). Bandits are kill all, help Oak, kill all.

I'm doing the same spiel Gary, except not going for CI. I'm going heavy in the left side of the talent tree for Marauder + Templar passives (inc AOE for Cleave, HP Nodes, Shield block nodes) and then probably going off toward the right toward Ranger to finish off the tree later on.
Just using Cleave+Item Quantity, DS+LoH, Anger, Enduring Cry, and Decoy Totem atm. End-Game goal is to get a sick 1 hander + shield, to make use of all the newly buffed Sword passives near the Duelist starting point.

Ah, I see. This build is taking advantage of the CI + Ghost Reaver + Vaal Pact + huge amount of life leech from Claws combo to be practically invincible. In addition, it does use a shield. I'm essentially following what Kripp has been saying about life vs ES. The difference is quite plain. ES only loses 10-15% of its "life", whereas life builds are nerfed by 25%. Stuff still hits stupidly hard, especially in endgame, so life builds feel a lot less secure.

Well Enduring Cry is a relatively early gem reward so you might just want to run through and grab one (early a2). The defensive gains from three endurance charges is quite ridiculous so if you're hurting on defense it is easily the cheapest way to get more. Granite may be better depending on the situation, but they also typically cost twice or three times as much (plus the combination is where they truly shine).

This sentiment is just going to make good ES pieces overpriced due to so many people wanting them. Life was better before imo so it being nerfed more doesn't really make it worse. ES is already disadvantaged that the best rolls require higher ilvl gear than other armor pieces. I would never play a CI character for entry in a league personally.

I've been debating rolling and playing a Freeze Pulse life-based Shadow or something and playing that for a while, then funneling some gems/gear to my Duelist to make things easier. I can still kind of farm Cruel Docks for a while on my main, at least.
I will definitely be getting Enduring Cry pretty soon; it's definitely becoming needed at this point. I wasn't sure it would be, since I steamrolled Cruel Act 2 pretty easily, including Vaal. For pots, I'm running a Hallowed Life Flask, 2 level 50 Hybrid Flasks, a 20% Surgeon's Quicksilver of Adrenaline, and a 20% Ample Granite of Iron Skin. One Hybrid is of Iron Skin (bad roll) and another is Bubbling of Reflexes (99%). With IR, popping a Reflexes and Granite is pretty nice (~13k armour).

I have absolutely no knowledge concerning flasks, I'm running 4 1k hp pots and 1 movespeed pot on my lightning arrow / frenzy blood magic ranger. Should I change something? Haven't ran into any problems so far till lvl 56, expect my cold resistance is only 40%.

Most people run Granite, Quicksilver, and a resistance pot that would help in that area. Plus two instant pots. You typically can't sustain off lifesteal until you're in maps though so one over time/one instant flask for oh shit moments.

With my EK Marauder in HC (pre-patch), I ran a Seething and a Bubbling Life Flask, 2 Granites (1 Warding, 1 Iron Skin), and 1 Quicksilver of Adrenaline. I think my health pots used Grounding and Heat for suffixes.

One thing came to mind today as I was grinding, normal all 3 difficulties give 8 skill points according to wiki, are all of those in skill books? If they are, or most of them, is it worth while farming whole normal with a character, putting the books in the stash, and using the books with a lvl 60+ char?

You can't put the books in your stash.

Why are they even in the game then? :<

Originally they weren't, the books are a relatively recent addition. The books were added so it was clear what the quest rewards were even though you can read the quest log ^_^ It also feels good to get this mystical book that you can click on.

Tried switching to Cyclone, did a few Sarn test runs easily, RIPed in Docks. Fucking shit.

I remember there being a bug on Explosive Arrow with the IIR/IIQ not being properly applied on proliferated kills. Has it been fixed already?

I can confirm seething health pots are mandatory to have unless you want to be in default league
