Heh, got close to lvl 14, 6th duelist, 22nd by playing extra careful.. my first turbo and my first ancestral, really didn't know what to expect. Had terrible gear too, got to level 10 with a level 1 white 2h and no mana flask. I guess people played way too risky and died.
ps. Obviously my ilvl 100 coral ring is +20.

Mod compendium. Basically a jackpot like prefixes of spell damage, spell damage & max mana, base max mana, affixes of +% one element damage (cold/lightning mostly, fire users generally use a linked searing touch staff), spell critical strike chance, cast speed. If you got high rolls on those 6 affixes that wand would be the best in PoE.
I paid 10 exalted for a wand with 110% spell damage, 25% spell crit, 60 mana, and 19% faster cast speed. So it gets pricey fast.
Projectile speed isn't bad either (it's a suffix), although what I listed above would be the best, it does affect freezing pulse/spark etc.
In case anyone actually reads this, I read about 4 pages back someone talking about dual spork totem and crit being better than spell damage nodes for damage output. This isn't true til way later in the game when you get REALLY godly equipment with spell damage/crit multiplier/crit chance on them. Til then, spell damage nodes are gonna be more reliable, especially since spork already gets about a 40% straight up flat chance to shock from static blows + adjacent node + conductivity curse + 6% natural spark crit. About the time you get to mid 80s is when you'd respec into crit nodes. I'm 84 on my dual spork templar and I'm still using spell damage nodes and I just tear through maps np, so it doesn't even really matter, but when I get to 88 or so I'll probably buy 20-30 regrets and go ahead and respec into crit nodes.

It's been getting a lot better since the launch 2 weeks ago, and I'll continue working on it.
I'm currently working on a feature where users can enter the url of their shop on the site, to make sure their stuff is indexed regularly. Plus these shops will be viewable (and probably searchable) on the site

Split arrow has 80% damage effectiveness. That's probably the cause.

Also does anyone know if Split Arrow + Fork + Pierce works? How does the fork work if it pierces?

Almost lost my ranger in maps again today, nothing more depressing than rolling a good 69 map walking through and having 12 undead rhoas and a rare necro waiting there, tried clearing it up since my dps and armor and quite good, ended up logging out with 174hp haha.
Afterwards I tried my hardest mountain ledge map.. 43% more magic -22% resist the MS/attack/cast whatever mod. No regen few other things was 97% quantity. Same thing though, rhoas rare necro, didnt even bother i just left FML.

I believe that's how damage effectiveness works. Don't take my word for it though.
A projectile will not fork if it pierces.

How about if it pierces its first target, will it have a chance to pierce its next target as well? If it does pierce its second target, will it keep piercing (if it procs) until its projectile speed stops?

Yes. Every time you hit an enemy, you have a chance to pierce. If that check is failed, the projectile stops. Otherwise, it will continue on its original path, and will still be able to pierce other enemies.

Blew another 50 fusing on the second chest, no dice on good links though.

This game is an exercise in frustration. I been trying to switch my bow shadow to CI for like 5 levels now. First I was missing a decent ES chest, I could not buy one as people ask too much or don't reply to trade requests (on forums). Then I manged to craft one with 300+ ES. Then I got lucky to fuse a 4L together. But now I need to chrome it into something useful but got no Chromes to use :/ And I level twice and checked all vendors from act2 merc to act1 normal and got like 1 
Drops also really bad for Chromes. Then I went to trade chat to trade some of my alchs for chromes at a fair price but nobody reply
So any kind soul here on TL that has excess Chromes and wants to trade for Alchs at a fair price?

The "crafting" system is the worst part of this game for me after Desync. I already almost quit PoE a couple of times because of it. It is main reason why I don't play end game but rather make new chars (those don't really care for 4L+ and other such bullshit and you can do content with whatever).

Crafting can be frustrating, but its nice when you roll that sick item. If you are poor then crafting is a terrible way to spend your money, and by poor i mean less than 15exalts in currency. Its such a random chance, with so many mods to roll that its near impossible to get something usable. Although after saying that, almost all of my gear is self found or self crafted, but the pieces i bought I got for much cheaper than my crafting price.
That lethal race they had today btw, wow, difficult. Hillock 1shot 90% of your characters life, was pretty well unkillable unless you got a wand or a bow you could use from the zombies on the beach. 50%increased dmg + 50%bonus light/fire/cold. Nothing like getting 3shot with 150life and a shield at the ledge at lvl 7. That said, it was a ton of fun to play, I just regret getting cocky after finding a +1cold shield when i was top 3 witch.

Getting a 4L is usually REALLY easy. When you know you want to craft an item, don't forget to first get it to +20% quality. I think it dramatically improves the odds of getting better link counts.
Also, I get a loooot of chromatics by just making sure I pick up all the chromatic weapons I find while farming maps. There are quite common.
