Having a lot of fun on my fire bowrauder, thought I'd share the gist of my build. Single target DPS burning arrow, and aoe I use LMP + Champ explosive arrow, and iron will + increased area of effect on fire trap and flame totem. Also have a flammability curse in there for good measure. I'm level 50 atm and I'm tearing things up. I have 400 strength, and have the str > projectile dmg passive. All life and armor nodes, templar for elemental dmg and increased area of effect, fire dmg nodes south in marauder, resolute technique, blood magic, and more armor/health near duelist. Surprisingly, flame totem is a decent tank as well as DPS, which makes tough, dense rooms pretty easy. Items with fire dmg% help tremendously. Best of all, it's not lightning arrow so there's no lightning clogging the screen and lowering FPS.

Were you trying to solo them or 6 man exp party? I just don't really see how people die in the latter when there's so many people to tank random attacks/damage. You should also play a lot safer in act 3 in the forties because you're rather on the low end of most dock groups (some people stay in them up until 60 or so).

a. 4 gcp but you can easily push for an exalt because its always in demand from people dying and starting up LA chain builds, etc.
b. ~3 gcp is what I usually see I think
c. 1:5
d. 1:2

Sucks on the docks btw, I think they need to play around with LMP dogs damage because that particular combination of enemy/trait just does way more damage in a short period of time than almost every enemy at a comparable difficulty. It's relatively easy to avoid them normally but when lag is involved its a whole different beast.

It is the whole thing about lmp on monsters. Straight up tripling damage on close range from an already above level monster is pretty brutal! Especially for projectives with special effects, like Merveil's Daughter, Voidbearers, alchemists, LA,archers EA archers and others. Not saying they are impossible, but several tiers of danger above any other mod monsters can have with the possible exception of rare monsters with damage return or elemental damage return auras.

Balancewise it annoys me a bit that I feel Merciless Ledge/Fellshrine are much less scary than Cruel Docks, exclusively because of those dogs. But welp, I modified the build a bit with a tick more life and an even later peak but it was just too much of a total cakewalk until that point to not level it up again.

My LA templar on the other hand still feels squishy as fuck when I'm not in groups. I really dislike how weak it feels solo in comparison.

edit: If anyone here has an Elemental Hit for sale, PM me please. Tradechat driving me insane. Only people who messaged me all day was one guy telling me it's worth 5gcp and the other that he just bought one for 4 chaos. Nutcases. Everywhere. t.t

Ranger died to huge desyncs rofl

Making a tank templar now, just thinking how am I supposed to kill elemental dmg mobs with molten shell since it only works with physical or blocked physical dmg

3gcp for ele hit is overpriced, while it's better lategame then burning arrow, ba is just as good up to top tier of gear.

Probably 1 and a bit is more reasonable.

so my duelist is now rolling with 12k dual strike and 7k cleave dps. some nice gear, but nothing extraordinary, and not even a 5l armor. life is a bit lowish with 2.4k, but on the other hand im well over 10k armor as well as resistances somewhere between 66 and 75, chaos at ~20, and that is without the 5 endurance charges. unlike what is the general consens about dw melee/general melee i dont really feel that weak tbh, and this actually was my first character. its default league so yeah im dying every now and then when i am too reckless, on the other hand i could probably get to 2.7-3k life by sacrificing about 2k dps, and it would still be more than enough to rip through everything this game has to offer so far.

So, is there a point in the game when the dps starts to go up like crazy ? Whoso with 12k dps, what lvl are you ? I'm 40 with... 225 dps :D

well i dont think dps is accurate for every skill used. especially if its some projectiles with chain and whatnot.

My frenzy shows like 600 dps at level 65 ;p - maxes out at attack speed 3.3.
Elemental hit says 800 but I think it's not being calculated correctly?

I wish there was a way to copypaste item stats from the poe website hmmm....

PS what's the relative value of IIQ vs IIR? Got 156% IIR going (SC obviously...) but
of course most rares are crap. For two otherwise equal items, how much IIQ than the equivalent IIR? 1:2?

Elemental hit doesn't add the random damage to the DPS calculation.

So I guess at least ~500 damage/hit (including elemental damage modifiers, do the passive tree/support gem/eq stats add or multiply btw)* 2.7 attack speed still only puts the total in the range of maybe 2.5k.

I was thinking about doing something like this, but I don't really know how well it's going to work. It seems like you'd have trouble getting high dex AND high STR, and without high dex you can't level your bow skills or use good bows - and without high STR you don't get anything out of Iron Grip (or w/e it's called). Am I missing something or does this not work out too well?

And does anyone know - can you use Iron Grip + Iron Will (the support gem) to double up on the STR bonus?

I was thinking about doing something like this, but I don't really know how well it's going to work. I'm not sure how a marauder gets enough DEX either. It's easy for a RANGER to get a lot of STR because we basically all go to the Marauder side of the tree for Blood Magic, Resolute Technique and HP nodes. I don't see a reason for a Marauder to go to the Ranger side of the tree, but maybe I'm missing something.
