Nani can play both sides and is a bit more versatile. Valencia is a more conventional winger so unless theres some playing time issue which doesnt happen under SAF often I dont think hes going anywhere unless they need the money or he wants to leave, both of which are unlikely. If anything Nani is probably likelier to get sold if anyone.

I've not seen how Kagawa plays at Dortmund or what formation they like to play, so I could be wrong about his utility in a 4-4-2 formation. No I'd say that's pretty close. Player by player similarity et al - Rooney is an upgrade on Lewandowski, Valencia on Kuba, Young is an inside out winger type like Greskreutz is, probably with worse movement and positional sense but a more threatening type of ball at feet player. The one thing that I found United fans (most fans really) getting wrong is the belief that Kagawa is some sort of midfield creator. He's more like a withdrawn striker that does like ball at his feet, driving direct forward but he's not going to have that sort of vision, creativity or passing potency alot of people tend to associate with that type of attacking midfielder.

Fletcher we dont know when he will come back plus he also is kinda a one trick pony. Also think man utd need a few more players on the bench as that is kinda their weakness compared to man city and Chelsea now, they dont have a lot of impact players!!! hopefully they wont lose a lot this window and gain a few more, also hope cleverly doesnt get so injured this year and comes on as well!

I'm skeptical that Fletcher will recover from his illness. Anderson is injury prone. Scholes already can't play twice in 4 days, and may wear down over the season. I'm not a fan of Giggs playing CM. There's a rumor that PSV has agreed to a transfer price with Utd for Strootman. Dunno if that's true, but that would be a decent addition. He'd be very useful as one of the back two mids in a 4231, especially since SAF doesn't like purely defensive midfielders.

So on two fronts (consistency, style) I prefer Valencia. I've never rated Nani on the left, people who think he can play on both sides are kidding themselves. He looks a much worse player on the left than on the right. Meh, he doesnt have to start on the left or any rubbish like that. But the switch option is there if he can run at weaker defenders. Frankly I dont think hes really much good at all and more panache than substance but if you have a weak defender youd like to run at and dont have Ashley Young your putting Nani there not Valencia. Then again I guess people with a hint of flair never did do well in the long ball/fire into the box format. Isnt Pogba going to Juve? Or that just bs? As for deep lying midfielders. Aside from Fletcher who may well never be the same again the likes of Scholes at this stage or Anderson at any stage arent doing much in big games. Well Scholes might but really if your using him as an ace card somethings pretty wrong. I dont care much about the impact on the league United do well there regardless. Europe is a different animal and Im not convinced they have the ability to control the midfield enough against good teams. I mean they are no Chelsea but still.

Sure, he might not use tricks, but who needs tricks when you can just blast past them and leave them in the dust? Tricks are over-rated. I agree, Valencia is one of the fastest players around and, in fact, is one of the most capable wingers in the Premier League!

And if it is a weak defender then you'd definitely play Valencia as a weak defender is even more likely to fall apart to raw pace and power because it doesn't give them any time to think and forces their positioning to be perfect (which it won't be). Pogba/Juve is all up in the air. I don't think anything has been decided. It could still happen, I hope it does not. You're massively under-rating Carrick. But so does every Manchester United fan I know, so I'm used to that. He's been very good this season, both with and without Scholes by his side. Anderson hasn't had enough chances due to injury. However, at the start of the season he looked a real force alongside Cleverly. I disagree that everyone has to play possession football in Europe. We just have to play our brand of football better. No if anything Valencia is a million times better than Nani, I dont rate people who resort to flashy stuff to beat players. My point is Valencia is to valuable on the right having to check to cross ala Ashley Young who himself is soso to really good and has mean curler but sometimes watching him is just plain annoying would be taking away from his game. Valencia is far and away their best winger for me. But he doesnt need to target weaker defenders, he can get almost anyone in the league. Its about balance and Valencia I feel would lose more from switching flanks. Or give me a game when hes played on the left and Id like to judge for myself because I havent noticed it and would like to see it. So no I didnt insinuate that he isnt capable of going past players to get crosses in but he doesnt outright beat players as much which is actually getting yourself between the ball and the defender and opens the play in a different way. Not saying he cant do it. Its just not his forte so why change that. What does posession football have to do with anything ? United's style is just as exciting as anything else. Its just not hurting teams in Europe the way it does in the league. And yes if you play your brand of football better then you win thats kinda how it goes duh. People have caught on to Barca and to a an extent United to. All that aside they havent been playing it better and that usually stems from not being able to feed the flanks effectively. So yes having control of the midfield is important. Again Carrick is great at spraying it around, a poor mans Alonso if you will, but what you really needed was Hargreaves to not be made of glass and the team wouldve been beastly imo. Controlling the midfield doesnt equate to posession football although that is usually the case if you do play that way. Edit : RIP Preciado, man Villareal cant catch a break.
