When I bought the game on PC I just stuck with keyboard and it's been good to me. Would pick up a Hitbox Arcade if I was going to play the game competitively in tournaments, and I'd get an arcade stick over a controller if I had to. What controller are you using? A bad one (cough Xbox controller cough) might have a horrible d-pad which might be wrecking you. | ||

Is this your first experience with SF4 or were you able to pull things off with an arcade stick that you can't do on pad? One thing to check first when just learning is that you're not hitting the attack buttons too soon during the motion. | ||
