Reason I say that Jwong had the comeback of the tournament was because PR Rog's level 3 was a retarded 50/50 (to be honest, it was 33% not even 50%) that relied on viscant either 1) diving down 2) teleport down 3) throwing fireball. PR Rog got lucky that he did dive down it wasn't on reaction it was random.

i hope your not trying to downplay that shit. you must have never played tron vs dark phoenix b4. it's damn near impossible to get anything on phoenix considering her mobility is butt, and j.H/j.S gets beat cleanly by anything phoenix has on the ground. basically lvl 3 was the only thing he had and it worked. thsi was the moment of evo

Where did I say that its easy to get in, my point is that the level 3 was a fucking 33% or less hail mary. I'm downplaying the fact that it worked and didn't even kill Viscant off, it was his 2nd to last character, viscant was on game point so PR Rog puts his life down on less than 33%. Justin on the other hand is down to a pixel with an akuma against a full life Wolverine that can chip any other human being, and a Haggar with 80% life, to get into top 8.

what is this % crap? poker? do you wanna run the % of somebody landing a 720 with their life on the line when somebody can dp/backdash/jump. and i'd much rather deal with haggar/wolverine with akuma on any life amount than tron vs phoenix

honestly not even sure y we are arguing both were ridiculous. if it were me i prolly would have popped lvl 3 as soon as she turned, which would have completely missed since viscant jumped away immediately after transforming

i must say though viscant is such a fucking scholar. dude goes on a pre-evo podcast, reveals his tricks/secrets while everyone is staying quiet and still wins the whole thing. his knowledge and understanding of the game and his team (esp. the -IM + haggar switch) are just amazing. i respect anybody who shares knowledge to the community (fleshlight review anybody?). while i was rooting for pr rog, i'm quite happy for viscant

I don't know why I'm bothering but: honestly, why all the disrespect and petty bickering? Whether you love Starcraft or Street Fighter, or both, this weekend has been amazing. There was something for everyone and then some. It will benefit you to not sully your memories of such a good weekend with silly unnecessary arguments. Just appreciate that between MLG, GSL, and EVO, we were treated to something really special this weekend.

Enjoy it, don't ruin it for yourselves.

Couldn't of said it better myself. We are all gamers, share the hype.

<3

All weekend the scenes have been bleeding over. SC2 shoutouts at EVO, Gretorp with his NASL t-shirt at EVO, fighting game shoutouts from MLG, Artosis and Ski's exchanges on twitter, this thread right here at the heart of our Starcraft community, all the folks happily split-screening 4 streams on big screen TVs.

There's a lot of "let's grow e-sports," and "let's globalize e-sports," but this weekend we did something better. We went beyond bringing our passions to new audiences, we went beyond bringing nationalities together - though we did do all of that. This weekend, we tore barriers down and brought two very different communities together united under the banner of amazing pro gaming, and I'm damn proud to be apart of that.

Growing e-sports means more than bringing in new viewers, more than reaching a global audience, it's joining communities too. And we've done that. This weekend was not only amazing, exciting, dramatic, every positive adjective in the book, but it was a huge success.

Let's be civil and appreciate that.

lul that's my older brother... he is 3.5 years older than me. everyone says we're twins. I went to mlg for saturday and sunday so it couldn't have been me!@

Oh man, how embarressing, i made it my business to tell your brother how much my friend and i appreciated his work on friday. and how all the long hours really paid off.

wonder if he gets this alot? he definitely didn't mention that it wasn't him. but no biggie.

I'm really glad to see that some sc players tuned in and enjoyed this one. There are a lot of fighting game fans into scbw/2, but very few sc player following fighting games. Glad to see it becoming more of a 2 way street, can only be a good thing.

The mvc and sf top 8 were mind blowing. Some people I was with kept needing smoke breaks just from the hype of watching.

justin wongs comeback was more impressive but he was 1-0 i think and that was just ro 8 or ro 16,
viscant vs rog was 2-2, tournament patch point and haggar+pheonix vs tron. yeah more impressive but it didnt have the hype

I had a blast switching between evo and mlg during the weekend. I ended up watching mostly blazblue, MK9 and SF ae though, I know a lot of ppl like MvC but I couldn't get into the gameplay at all and just skipped out on those few hours.

Making Bob jokes for 2 hours was also somewhat entertaining. I ended up watching tekken for the chat instead of the gameplay.

Now that I've had time to digest this weekend, I think a lot of the AE results have, quite frankly, to do with American's character loyalty.

Look at most of the top American players and the characters they ran. Very, very few switched over to Yun or Fei.

Justin, Flash metroid, Wolfkrone, Latif, Valle, PhilipinoChamp, Combofined, Mike Ross, etc... None of them. They've all remained character loyal for Evo.

quick edit: Don't take my post to be insulting to the Japanese players or belittling their accomplishments, but merely an observation.

To them, 2 months just isn't enough to practice all the matchups they needed I guess. Hsien Chang plays in the Arcade UFO all the time so he had enough experience running Yun but everyone else stuck to their character and then just played Marvel or MK9 instead lol. Next year once the proper practice is had in the new patch I'm sure we'll see people switch around a bit more, except for the true character specialists like Wolfkrone, Latif, Mike Ross. Even Champ might have to work on his pocket Seth given the 2-8 against Yun with his sim.

not my video. too bad the audio sounds muffled.

seems like Tokido isn't used to dealing with Haggar's Lariat assist

Haggar just does a good job of shutting down Wolvie since you can only attack wolvie between assists, pretty surprised people were able to use haggar to stop tokido but also his phoenix though.
