I stopped playing MTG 3-4 years ago, but I used to have this Black card, maybe a demon. I don't remember anymore exactly, but the text goes like: As long as [card] is in play, no player can die. Please help me recall this card. Thanks. | ||

Thanks. Is this the only card with this ability? This looks like it but the text on the card I remember was worded like "as long as X is in the game, no player can die". They might have changed the wording? | ||

Definitely one of the slower and weaker Moxes printed, though. Doesn't really mana fix, and doesn't ramp very well unless there's some good 1-2 drop Legends/Planeswalkers that I can't remember. | ||

Mox opal fit into an affinity shell that would have been viable without it, it just made an awesome deck better. No "legendary" deck framework exists to slot this in, unless some new sweet legendaries are printed that essentially create an entirely new archetype. I mean, to even make this thing viable as some kind of ramp you have to have at least 12+ legendary 1-2 mana permanents in your deck. I don't see that bar being met yet. I'm actually excited about the goblins, myself. Goblin warchief modern legal? Yes please... Very disappointed about Jaya Ballard. She was hands down my favorite planeswalker lore-wise (one of my main favorite decks is legacy burn) and I was REALLY hoping that when they took the opportunity to print a card for her they would push her so that red finally had a playable planeswalker. I am dissapoint. | ||

Here's some good legendaries that turn it on that are quite playable: Baral, Chief of Compliance (another 0 cmc spell for storm that ramps? Sure.), Gaddock Teeg and Thalia (Though I'm not sure if you'd want to run this in the decks that typically run them), and Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. That's in the 2 cmc range. It's the weakest mox for sure and I don't reckon it'll find a place in many decks outside of perhaps storm. In standard you have stuff like Heart of Kiran which is quite strong right now, Sram, and the G/U Nissa. So it's not going to be unplayable for sure. | ||

Pretty sure you can't add colourless mana with it, so Heart of Kiran is a no go. Getting mana from it isn't really an issue. With the prevalence of Legends and Walkers, most decks will by default have something around that qualify. Especially with this Dominaria block shaping up to be another Legends-heavy block. Problem is getting any kind of early game consistency from it, otherwise its not really worth running. | ||

Also can't wait for the challenger decks to be released. I am not impressed with Rivals as a draft format (it is ok, but no more than that), and the challenger decks looks fun to try out. Already theory-crafting how I will tweak the mono-red one. | ||
