Anyone attending GP Portland, I'm already committed on a deck so I can't really think/change much about it, and I haven't played modern since the eggs ban so I hope everything goes smooth. Just looking to make Day 2 at my home GP would be nice, but I won't call it a bad weekend if I don't make Day 2.

I dislike when playing for spots doesn't actually mean anything since the prizes are going to everyone anyways, especially when playing is fueling your collection etc. I've always shied away from shops that distribute to basically everyone with prize distribution, although pre-releases are slightly different due to the variety of players that tend to show up. Last Modern GP had quite the variety of decks so I'm expecting something similar.

Think you need a read on the meta in order to take advantage of your 4 colors; so try to figure that out at least.

If I had time to prepare I would, it would probably be a good idea, but I don't like making presumptions on the meta for modern based off of magic online results, since they haven't correlated in the past, and since my main method of practicing/acquiring information is MTGO .... (PTQ MOnline meta and PTQ paper meta were really different). I'll scout out thursdays last chance gpts though.

I'm sure someone from Vegas or California area is going that I know, I just need to find out, but I don't really think anyone has a good read on the meta, I don't know anyone from Pacific Northwest going personally, I don't play physical anymore.

It seems like a very strong finisher for control; once it hits the board barring any extraneous circumstances or pithing needles it is invulnerable

Other cards considered: Lingering Souls Vault of the Archangel Sorin, Lord of Innistrad Tithe Drinker Orzhov Charm Restoration Angel Elixir of Immortality (sideboard for control, fuck you drownyard) Trostani, Selesnya's Voice Ready // Willing Selesnya Charm Again, it's just an idea at this point, but we'll see where it goes.

Edit: Deck had 3 mainboard Elixirs, didn't matter. I ended up ticking Jace up and ulti.

Should have a sideboard full of more hard to answer threats (Sigarda, the rest of the 4 Sorins, some amount of enchantment removal, maybe Avacyn) for control and be pre-boarded against aggro.

None of those cards matter. The deck plays like a Junk rites deck except without any of the back breaking interactions, so its pretty bland.
