Yes, basically, so you're stuck not doing anything. It's a line open to them if they need to get Jace activations.
The biggest problem with Aetherling is that he's 6 cmc, effectively 7, in the match up where the real fun can start at 5. Makes it hard to justify playing him with or without Caverns. Where as you can play Obzedat and they realistically have 1 out with 0 further investment from you. Either line can mean you get tempoed except one costs you mana and the other doesn't.
Edit:
Still a fine card against Esper, but not as great as people think. Morphling he's not (given power level considerations).
|
Damn so I've done a lot with the list and I'm in love. Control matchup is pretty bad, probably 40/60, but it stomps agro (like tempo should) and I feel like post-board reanimator isn't that much of an issue either.
List + Show Spoiler + 2 Snapcaster Mage 4 Wolfir Avenger 4 Yeva, Nature's Herald 1 AEtherling
2 Simic Charm 4 Advent of the Wurm 4 Azorius Charm 3 Think Twice 3 Sphinx's Revelation 3 Dissipate
4 Supreme Verdict
1 Detention Sphere
4 Hallowed Fountain 4 Hinterland Harbor 4 Breeding Pool 4 Glacial Fortress 4 Temple Garden 3 Sunpetal Grove 1 Cavern of Souls 1 Forest
Edit: To the people who want to use Varolz, don't have more than 1 or 2 of him in a deck. Sure he makes your creatures able to do things even after they've died (value), but it's such a huge tempo loss to spend your mana pumping one of your guys and to lose him to simic charm/azorius charm/removal of any sort. At the end of the day he's a 2/2 for 3 that has a potentially strong upside late. Ruric Thar is bonkers good, though, in case people were on the fence about that bastard of a card.

I finally decided to liquidate my online collection, as it's been sitting there idle for months since I don't have the money to do digital and paper, and I like paper more. Where/how is the best place/way to sell the tickets?

ebay or give them to me.
|
I'll send you all of them for 3 Rev's. Real ones, ofc.
|
I used to go through ebay, and have successfully sold around 400 tickets on ebay.
I think the safest way is to sell to someone you know personally, or people from your LGS that you can somewhat trust, have a laptop with MTGO installed and do the transaction in person(both cash and tickets) for safety of both parties. I used to sell tickets to the same guy I borrow MTGO stuff from, and it always worked out.
I have also dumped an entire collection + tickets to MTGO traders(they send you money through paypal) when I was moving once since I needed cash(I've never built up a collection again, just borrow) . It was extremely quick and easy, and I had known people that done it in the past, but of course I didn't get nearly as much had I looked around, so this is if you don't want to look around and your in a hurry.

Did not realize Sphinx's were at 25 median, weird.

I would love to go Boro-Zorius or Bor-Izzet if I didn't have a concert this Sunday. (local shop's only participating on Sunday; it's gon' be packed like GC was...)
|
Izzet is the best guild.
That is why I picked Rakdos.
|
So for the prerelease, do we just get boosters? Is there any way to know what cards are in the packs, or do they just randomly pick cards that are in your guild?
|
I am going with Golgari I don't really see a bad choice in guilds to be honest. it's all on your playing style and luck from the boosters, I plan on splashing blue and going bug, hoping for a cloudfin raptor or some other flying dude, that I can use the Champion to make huge dudes and just go over the top.
|
Hope people realize that they can not use their special cards in this pre-release event.

Power level for most of the stuff in Pre-release seems fairly balance for the most part so just going to play favourites hehe.

Went Orzhov because I just really like Junk. We'll see how it ends up.

Went Orzhov hoping for Selesnya

Thought Doctoring is more versatile than we thought; Gatherer comments are a boon. Consider Nivmagus Elemental, Woodlot Crawler, or Blood Baron if you're going Esper. Perhaps it makes more sense now?
I agree that it's still an incredibly narrow card and probably won't see much play. But at least we now have more ideas on what is possible to do with it.
|
Damn, that's a lot of special rulings for one card.

I agree that it's still an incredibly narrow card and probably won't see much play. But at least we now have more ideas on what is possible to do with it. I don't see how it synergises with any of those. It would be great if cipher triggered on declaration of attackers, but it doesn't.
What good is changing Forestwalk to Islandwalk after you've already swung and assigned damage?? Or protection - why would your opponent save their removal for your second main phase?
Nivmagus, in theory, could work in some sort of Delver shell with this and curiosity. But that is the only possible place I can see this being good.
It would be great if one of two changes happened - it triggered on declaration of attacker, or was permanent. As is it is completely useless, unfortunately.

(Trait Doctoring; totally my bad...) You're right about the Woodlot Crawler.
Of course it'll do well with Delver. Everything seems to do well with Delver, lol. But... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. >:-D
|
Actually it doesn't even like Delver all that much because it doesn't affect Runechanter's Pike and you can't snap it. God damnit, this is so close to being good but it is terrible in just about every situation.
