Apparently Blizzard, makers of such filthy games like World of Warcraft, Starcraft II and Oblivion, have a horrible series of games glorifying Satan called "Diablo". Apparently there are two sequels, or "clones" as gamers call them, of this game, the most recent having been released in 2009. How this horrifying game managed to get released without widespread calls for it's banning is beyond me! this is my favorite quote from that link:
Upon starting the game up, the player is asked to "role-play" as one of three characters: the Destroyer, a tatooed meathead obviously inspired by a member of the BDSM-sodomite community known as a "power top bear"; the Vanquisher, a scantily-clad harlot who gains "levels" by soliciting people for s*x and fornicating with them; and, worst of all, the Scientist, a demon-summoning wizard who builds sex-robots and espouses Darwinian propaganda!

If you watch that video on youtube, the video description answers your questions:
As Deckard Cain's niece, Leah, struggles to make sense of her uncle's mysterious and disturbing notations, she bears witness to a dark vision. Azmodan, Lord of Sin, towers over the fragile young woman, swearing his armies of the burning Hells shall pour forth into Sanctuary, ravishing the world and all hope of resistance.
|
Azmodan, lord of Sin.
From the Diablo 1 manual: + Show Spoiler +The Dark Exile “Seven is the number of the powers of Hell, and Seven is the number of the Great Evils.”
Duriel, the Lord of Pain
Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish
Belial, the Lord of Lies
Azmodan, the Lord of Sin
These are the true names of the lesser of the Great Evils. For ages uncounted each have ruled over their own domains within the Burning Hells, seeking absolute dominion over their infernal brethren. As the Lesser Four continuously vied for the control of those forces that dwelled within their realms, the Greater Three held absolute power over the whole of Hell. The Lesser Four used dark and evil measures in their quest for power, and herein begins the legend of the Dark Exile.
Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred Baal, the Lord of Destruction
Diablo, the Lord of Terror
These are the Prime Evils of Hell that wielded their power as a dark, sovereign triumvirate. The Three Brothers ruled over the Lesser Four by brutal force and malicious cunning. Being the eldest and strongest of the Evils, the Three Brothers were responsible for countless victories against the armies of the Light. Although they never held sway over the High Heavens for long, the Three were justly feared by enemies and subjects alike.

I know they are in MP, but they have said before that Followers would only pop up if you are playing solo. In the panel today they never mentioned if they were still only going to pop up if you were playing solo or if other people were in your game.
Just didn't word it correctly I guess.

With the implementation of the real money auction house I feel blizzard is legitimizing botting as a means for RMT companies to turn profit off Diablo 3. I wish I could ask Blizzard to what extent they will try to protect the auction house from being flooded with illegitimate items acquired through botting and other farming methods. Too bad I wasnt able to attend blizzcon and pose this question, as I feel the steps Blizzard took in Diablo 2 were absolute shit to the average player (Temp-bans, refresh locks on game page etc).
Anyone else have thoughts? I was a person who has used bots in the past in both Diablo 2 and WoW, and was rightfully banned for glider use in WoW pre-bc (first ever november banwave). I've grown up alot since then (I was 16 at the time and am now turning 21) and have played completely straight edge since. I have a very keen eye for bots in MMO's and have reported atleast 30-40 over the years in WoW alone. Diablo 2 is infested and even my step brothers girlfriend says she used bots(true damn story). With legitimate means of acquiring real money I have a hard time even convincing myself not to create a second spoof battle.net account and trying to earn some cash off the game with some script usage. If i'm putting the effort to play ALOT to try and make a few bucks, I dont want all my hardwork diminished by a flood of botted items completely washing out the market prices. It wont make sense for me to even attempt this if one person can set up 15 bots and be hundreds of times more efficient than I ever will be.
I guess this is in the interest of Blizzard, if the market is flooded with items they are cheaper. With cheaper items there is more incentive for people to make purchases. If everything is cheap and the majority of items are put on the market by bots, both Blizzard and RMT companies make money and everyone is happy (as blizzard takes a cut out of every transaction, so more sales by cheaper prices means they make more money). Items are easier to aquire, the player is happy. The only problem is, is that the hardcore players who are looking to help provide these items get fucked and the only way to compete is to resort to botting unless Blizzard actually gets off their butts and Does something (Unlikely, you do a BG in WoW currently and run into atleast 1 bot every game). Really ticks me off. Terrible design IMHO, things have to be rethought unless Blizzard finds a way of detecting pixel detection without crossing privacy laws.

I think Blizzard is more interested in designing gameplay, dungeon layouts, and loot priority such that writing a bot to do it will be incredibly difficult. Like difficult as in, "if you could do that, why not just go work for the Department of Defense making a million bucks annually" difficult. Diablo 3 is going to be designed to de-emphasize bosses for loot and make randomly generated events and randomly generated rare/champion monsters give you the most loot. Bosses aren't going to be accessible enough, give you good enough loot, or be easy enough anymore for it to be worthwhile to farm them with a bot. The majority of the loot will be in running entire dungeons, finding rare/champion monsters and crafting.

my thoughts on the auction house isnt as negative as everyone else's. Maplestory had the real money trading house for a long time (although you can't covert the money back into your paypal, only into more premium points), and simply look to that to see where this might be going. The real money trading house in maplestory didnt affect gameplay at all, many just view it as a cash shop that sells power thats present in so many other korean mmos. The higher lvls are able to sell good items for premium points, other wise can only come from real money, (since maplestory had no listing fee) consistently and make profits.
But the problem with it is that it didnt at all discourage item sellers and gold farmers, since gold farmers sell gold at a much lower rate than the in game auction house, gold farmers are still striving. i dont think diablo as a game will be heavily affected, but gold farmers wont be eliminated by a simple in game auction house.

Maplestory's system was completely different. In their case, they were injecting items into the game using RMT. Blizzard is not bringing items into the game, merely providing the means to earn real money from in game items. This legitimizes botting. You cannot bot nexon points in Maplestory, you can bot irl money in diablo 3. It's that simple.
As far as the complexity of bots. Blizzard states that the majority of the good loot is going to be dropped by rare monsters. This makes bots doing dungeon runs for loot extremely profitable as boss runs (and with that complex boss fight mechanics) will not be the mainstay for botters. It's not hard to make a bot. You can use pixel detection and a script in autoit to clear areas. It will take memory injection to learn boss fights and succeed in harder mechanics. Diablo 2 was more random than Diablo 3, diablo 3 uses a start and end point and fills the middle with random sets of pre-determined blocks. This makes it *EASIER* to use pixel detection for these areas, which does NOT hook into the game so is IMPOSSIBLE to detect using warden.
It seems to me like Blizzard is using the obvious spill of botted items to destroy market prices and increase the amount of exchanges made in the auction house. Since Blizzard makes a percent or two off every transaction they make money (More transactions, more money, this makes botting GOOD for blizzard, everyone is happy right?), large scale botting businesses make money, and the average person looking to make a few bucks is screwed.

General Question about lore:
+ Show Spoiler +Has Deckard Cain really been retconned to be some silly old man who was a scholar and philosopher, or is he still the last of the horadrim and his notes and journals are still his research and what not, but he doesn't remember for ____ reason? And then if the latter, is there a reason? Previously it was revealed that Deckard recognizes the barbarian as being THE barb that kills Baal with the other heroes, though apparently that was removed. mer

Spessi, where do oyu get that idea from? I jsut watched the lore panel because I thought there was something said about him there, but I heared nothing. Could you tell me your source?
|
slightly off topic perhaps but where the hell can i buy a copy(online) of Lord of Destruction??
|
You only need a cd key, you can then dowload it directly from blizzards battle.net website. I just checked amazon and it was availible there, jsut hope that the key was not banned when you buy it, but well that is the gamble if you buy a used key for 3 bucks.
