It being a 'cop-out' doesn't affect how much sense it makes. It is in their interest to do such a thing, it is sensible whether you disagree or dislike it.

Huh? What are you talking about?
SC2 became an eSport because SC:BW was an esport, and because Blizzard built the game from the ground up to fulfill the role of an eSport. eSports don't just materialize on their own because a game has a community and there's some way to shoehorn in a competitive metagame. We've been there / done that already. If a game isn't built from the ground up to be an eSport, it just doesn't work. You can't just tweak a few knobs to make a game that's not an esport work as one. Developers have tried it before, and it always fizzles out when people realize the game is fundamentally broken at the highest levels and there's no way to fix it.
Do you realize that the devs have already said, on video, that they have no intention of balancing the arena? That pretty much kills the debate right there.
The most successful esport of all time would disagree.
I agree. Very few games have been designed "from the ground up" to be an eSport. In fact, you could make the case that LoL and DOTA2 are the ONLY games to fit that criteria.
Dustin Browder would like to have a word with you
I don't think slapping a spectator interface on a game qualifies it as being "designed from the ground up" for eSports, regardless of what anyone says.
The TL forums have been full of people complaining about various features (or lack of features) that hinder SC2's ability to be an eSport. In spite of that it has succeeded wildly as an eSport because it is a great, well-balanced game with a high skill ceiling and is relatively easy for a lay-person to watch and understand, same as SC:BW. Don't try and tell me Brood War was designed from the ground up for eSports.

I've been watching a lot of streams and it really seems like isometric WoW. :/
One thing they should keep in mind about WoW is that the quest tracker/compass/arrows/etc. are all liked because players don't want to waste any time doing unnecessary shit or killing things they don't have to.
Diablo is all about exploring and killing extra shit, and it's often necessary because you'll be too weak if you just go for the quests. I think the game would be better without that stuff, and with a more traditional quest screen/map.
Heres a skill build i made for the barb http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#dekSic!dah!ZYcacb, not really for boss fights but for taking out crowds extremely quickly. The idea is to leap attack in, groundstomp everyone and cleave/unleash hell with some fury Blood thirst will work nicely with Whirlwind and cleave, Animosity will help me save up alot more rage so i can constantly throw shit without worrying too much.. and unforgiving is meant to buffer that. thoughts? :D Also if anyone hasn't noticed... the white rune is a Panda face ; 0
Does anyone else this this is weird? Barb has the best MFing ability's and no options for the other class's. Just feels like blizz wants the barb to be a MF character..
in D2 barb was the best for GF gold find and outside of rune words you can get every time though gamble which is what some exploits used to farm items for sites like lewt.com etc. So his strong item find isn't that strange

it's like 7k and it's not like you're going to find more then a lvl 1 runestone in the beta which is probably restricted to act 1 so 13k points is unlikly

Really? I fail to see the similarities, I mean sure there might be some things that are the same, they've probably learned a lot from making wow but the main points (for me) seem to be the really fast and brutal gameplay compared to wow which is rather slow/kid friendly in regards to blood, violence etc, as well as the ambience which is really dark and moody in diablo. Really, I'm sure people will disagree here because they haven't played the game but compare D3 to wow or even D2, it's really atmospheric and has that creepy diabo.-feel all through it.
However I agree that those quest arrows are redundant.. sure they want to make it easy for casual players but I hope there's an option to turn that off.

this is really uninformed posting, you should do some research before making random numbers up.

You won't find runes on the beta. They are avaible after the stage where the beta session ends.

Maybe it's because the barb sucks at killing hords of enemies compared to the other classes, like the wizard

Public beta hasn't started anywhere. But when it does, it starts from NA(??) and pretty soon followed by rest of the world. People will be playing on US servers though ( at least Europeans).

I cant wait for this, been looking forward to a loot-fest time-waster for awhile for when I just have a few to play or Im tired and brain dead. Just updated my beta settings, I was invited to the sc2 beta fairly soon after it started so here's to hoping the luck continues!

How do you figure that? Indigo Runed Cleave draws in enemies from up to 26 yards away, Whirlwind was THE AoE skill of early D2 and Seismic Slam/Rend/Ground Stomp/Earthquake all do AoE damage? If D2 is anything like D3 (which is still undercertain at this point), best drops come from bosses/elite units, for which the durable barb would be very suited, seeing as he can ignore the group and go for the boss kill directly.
Anyways, I think these things will probably be tuned down so that their difference isn't that important. Blizzard is actively trying to avoid the same MF mistakes as in D2, so I assume the extra gains will be minimal.
