God damn. I really, really wish I was in the Starcraft scene since the beginning. I would have loved to witness all of this plus all the other great story lines first hand.

I missed his ascension to power. I really hope there will be a similar story in SC2.

This is an excellent writing, I love how subtle move can turn a bad position into a fine rape (no pun intended :p). Can't wait for part 2 !

I've read this article like 3 times now, and it really bums me out. :\

If it wasn't for tasteless, and savior I wouldn't of pay any attention to the pro level.

Wow, this was just part 1. Amazing read, even without having a second part it reads as a complete article and is well worth the time.

Thanks for putting in the time, he was before my time and it just isn't possible to go back and watch things and know why they were good since you compare it with modern games in your mind. This goes a long way to showing what he did that made the game go from three straight Terran dominating players into a Zerg.

Holy... ................. Shit...... I play Starcraft II, and this is beautiful... I would try to play brood war normally after reading something like this for any other game, but I will NEVER be good enough at BW to the point where I can pull off anything remotely as amazing and tactically brilliant as this! I just hope that someday after all the expansions and patches, that the absolute top tier of SC2 can be anywhere near as brilliant as this savior of SC!

Yes he was a match fixer, but a match fixer with insane SC skills

As a Starcraft 2 player who desperately wants to get into, and understand, the BroodWar scene as well, this article was absolutely amazing. Sometimes the writing on TL can be mediocre, but this is a pure work of art.

As a SC2 player, I wasn't around for this. But I really wish I was, and since I've been playing BW while my laptop has been out of commission I feel like I've already learned from the half of this article I've read thus far.

Please, more like this.

Teamliquids final edits are totally worth the read this included ofcourse. Amazing analysis of those tactical things that are easy to miss. I love the "new" breath in the final edits!

Loved that part where oov was called mechanically handicapped gorilla, who can't multitask. Even if im Oov fan, made me giggle bits .

well yes he was the best and he is responsibe for current tvz but i still think his mistakes overshadow his merits, an honorable player dont do those kind of thing doesnt matter how good u are.
you shouldnt worry if everybody ignore you, you should be worry when they dont anymore.

amazing article, can't wait for part 2 (if there is one, not sure if part 2 was written when part 1 wasn't posted originally).

it's sad that in this purely BW article there are so many comments about SC2. what's the point in bringing up rhetorical questions about seeing bonjwas in SC2 or bashing SC2 for being a no-skill game that won't allow for someone this creative to rise? this article isn't SC2-bashing or BW-glorifying or whatever. it's a wonderfully written article on a great player. leave your BW vs SC2 commentary elsewhere please.

This was an incredible article. The use of the text callouts was better than anything I've ever seen in any magazine. Reading it was pure joy.

Can't wait for part 2!

This is an excellent article. I started watching pro BW right after his time had past, and never got to see him play much. I also never got good enough at BW to truly appreciate the depth of skill he displayed. It's unfortunate he had to take the path he did.

This is the best article that was ever written in TL! I really loved how Savior did never show his feelings while he was kicking the ass out of all top players, his gameplay was so ignorant and ruthless! Damn he was just doing what ever he wanted to do and still raping!

I've never played nor watched Broodwar so it's extremely interesting to see what kind of players broodwar bonjwas were, it's hard to have an idea about what made them so impressive and successful when you weren't around back then.

Very well written article, read it in one shot, thanks for this
