Yes, Korean wins with 2 or better, Mexico beats Sweden. Then Korea advances.
If Korea wins by one, Mexico beats Sweden by one, we get into weird tiebreaker again.

sad with var we still have teams getting robbed

Mexico the most unlucky 2 win team in this WC. All other teams that have won 2 games are virtually through to the next round already while they still have a chance of being knocked out. To top that off, imagine getting first and meeting Brazil in the ro16 lol.

Yeah, that is two assholes. I hope they will be send home.

Who are those two idiots?

Fully agree on that. They need to be punished for that. What the fuck. I mean you can be happy, but doing stuff like that is beyond stupid and unasked for.

(when you are only entering scores, that should be obvious) Assuming 1-0 Sweden and Germany victories, and no further cards given, Sweden would be first in the group. The page shows Germany first. I think that is actually correct. Because it goes to a threeway head to head Germany 0-1 Mexico Germany 2-1 Sweden Sweden 1-0 Mexico So Germany wins on goals scored ahead of Sweden. But they both scored 2? Yes, but this breaks the three-way tie, then the head to head starts again for just Germany v Sweden. The public pages actually don't detail if those rules are applied iteratively. In fact I would say that the phrasing "If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows:" with above criteria refering to the total points/gd/goals actually implies that they won't be used iteratively. And in the non iterative case, Sweden is ahead of Germany. This actually had been discussed at the2014 WC already: http://worldsoccertalk.com/2014/05/15/ambiguous-rules-could-lead-to-world-cup-controversy-involving-usmnt-portugal-and-ghana/ but sadly no result is mentioned there. Looks like Fifa clarified this: in short, head to head tiebreaker would not be restarted in case of two teams remaining tied after three way tiebreaker, instead it would go to fair play/drawing of lots

Final playday outlook:
The only group in which every team can still advance and no team is yet qualified. A group with so tricky tiebreakers that FIFA had to clear up their own rules (and there were 2 ways those issues could happen...) A group where you really hope those tiebreaker never get important....
Possible outcomes: Just summarizing for each team here in which cases they advance... for the special cases or if you want to know 1st/2nd place, check the spoiler at the end
Mexico advances if: - they win or draw - they lose and Germany does not win - they lose by 1, Germany wins by 1 and weird things happen (7g, 7i, 7j)
Sweden advances if: - they win - they draw and Germany loses - they draw, Germany draws and Sweden scores more goals than Germany - they lose by 1, Korea wins by 1 + special conditions (3b, 3d)
Germany advances if: - they win by 2 or more - they win and Sweden does not win - they win by 1 and Sweden wins by 2 or more - they win by 1, Sweden wins by one and weird things don't happen (potentially eliminated in cases 7g, 7i, 7j) - in short: any win except cases 7g, 7i, 7j - they draw and Sweden loses - they draw, Sweden draws and Germany scores at least as many goals as Sweden - they lose by 1, Sweden loses by 1 + special conditions (3d, 3e)
Korea advances if: - they win by 2 or more and Sweden loses - they win by 1 and Sweden loses by 2 or more - they win by 1, Sweden loses by 1, but Korea scores at least 2 goals more than Sweden (e.g. 2-1 victory for Korea and 0-1 loss for Sweden)

4) Mexico draws Sweden, Germany beats Korea --> Mexico 1st, Germany 2nd
5) Mexico draws Sweden, Germany draws Korea --> Mexico 1st, 2nd depends - 5a) Sweden scores more goals than Germany ---> Mexico 1st, Sweden 2nd - 5b) Sweden does not score more goals than Germany ---> Mexico 1st, Germany 2nd

Would FIFA really decide which team advances based on RNG? That would be disgusting...

Those are the rules. And if the teams really managed to draw that many tiebreakers, what else would you use? Hair style voting contest?

Have them both get match ready and decide it with penalty kicks before the kickoff of the next game. Pretty much anything is better than drawing of lots

Merge them and have them compete as a two-nation team until the end of the competition.

Korea based gods, lets go :3

I got 2-0 for Sweden and 2-1 for Germany, so Germany will be lucky again. Though tbh South Korea is prolly going to get crushed.
|
I cannot imagine how Korea can defend against Germany. Sweden has already gone lucky conceding only two goals but they have a very good defense. South Korea's defense is meh
