Hi guys~

I was wondering, if I wanted to send Scarlett a small gift, could I send her one? and where would I send it?

Thank you <3

i think the best way to reach her with a present, is either paypal her on the public email address that is on her stream, or send the gift to acer, with a note that it's for her.

What does Paypal her on the public address mean? I was hoping to make a zerg pendant and send it to her, I'm a small time jewelry maker =)

You are most welcome.
Yea its best to email them, since what you send is quite valuable you might want to avoid a situation where for example they changed their address, and maybe not updated the website, etc. To be on the safe side so to speak.

Email her at Scarlettcoaching@gmail.com

i can guarantee every zerg streamer on twitch is licking there lips at the thought of putting "scarletts coaching me" in title for an hour or 2. if i was her i would have had an extra rate of $50 for a tweet to 30k followers that she would be on their stream (winter paid more for less lol)

thats not including the people who know they will get some good insights

Boy, reddit is really laying into her of this. They're more upset with Scarlett than I was

I mean, sure $75/hours is a lot, and way more than a lot of people can afford, but other players have and do charge even more than that so it's still not the worse deal out there. It's more about playing with Scarlett than actually getting better obviously.

the thing is people in scarletts position have to make the price cheap enough to not come of like a cash grabber and expensive enough to keep away the trolls. i think she does this

tbh i think she might have done the same search online that i did lol

LowkoTv is 50 euros for an hour and a half

idra charged $150 - $300 LOL. can u imagine that "i see hes going to 2 rax you, ok what u do it type kill your self and leave the game" at least scarlett can hold allins

al pacino was charging fans 25K so overall scarletts a fooking bargain for people who want to go pro and fan boys/girls like us

i stopped visiting the starcraft subreddit like 5-6 months ago and it was one of the best decisions i've made while being part of this community ;p

also i would gladly pay for the coaching if i had more money and less social anxiety xd

Wow, I just read the entire coaching post on reddit. It seems to me that people have knee-jerk reactions to dollar figures, or ideas, or new developments, or people being financially successful, and pull a Bill O'Reilly and start hating without really taking a mature look at the issue. Scarlett is really popular, skilled, and most of all, she has truly unique experiences that inform her mindset (Proleague experience, team-house experience, life in Korea, etc...) that no active foreign zerg has, other than Snute.

Unfortunately in life, nothing lasts forever. It is yet to be seen whether or not e-sports is like golf; that is, a game that allows you to turn pro at 18 and play in meaningful tournaments until you're 70. My guess is that it is not. Also, Scarlett plans on going to school eventually and probably wants to build up a bit of a nest-egg for that.

Also, just food for thought, most specialist doctors (endocrinologists, dermatologists, psychiatrists, any type of surgeon, etc...) charge huge amounts of money, in some cases up to several thousand dollars an hour to run tests on you (my psychiatrist charges $125 for each 15 minute session; I'm insure, so I pay $45). Most people would say "Yes, well they're a doctor and that's really hard to do, it takes a lot of time and skill..." Yes? And so does achieving what Scarlett has in SC2. And by the way, there aren't even 468,942 of her (the number of specialist physicians in the United States). And don't even get me started on the best lawyers ($500+ per hour, plus they charge for travel, food expenses, etc...) There is only one Scarlett. $75 is really not that much for an hour of personalized coaching and chat with someone you're a huge fan of.

Also, a lot of the hate in that thread came from people deciding that $75 was "too much" or something. I hate to break it to them, but I think most people saying that are a little too young to understand how the world works; if you only have the energy/time for 10 appointments, you set a high price because it will 1. make you as much money as you're worth, and 2. limit the number of people you have to say "no" to. This is basic reasoning; even if she were charging $500/hr, and all 10 slots were filled, I would still be saying good for her because that is obviously how much she is worth. Some people with no business sense might look at that and say "Her coaching isn't worth that much!" Actually... if she has hit her goal of 10 appointments at that rate, then I hate to break it to you buddy, but it is proven that her coaching is worth that much. It is obviously not worth it to someone who thinks it is not worth it; but that person who thinks it is not worth it shouldn't hate other people for deciding it is worth it.

Honestly, if Scarlett is going to live a normal western-style life where she buys a house eventually, owns a car, has a kid or two, pets, etc... then she pretty much has an obligation to herself to use the thousands of hours she's invested into the game to get a good return on her time-investment. She does not have to apologize for charging $75 an hour to get coaching and to chat with a (seriously) one in a million person. She's allowed to have pride in herself and do well for herself in life. Many people don't use math to make sense of the world. I ran conservative calculations (I will post them beneath this post in a "hidden" box) for the value of my computer science degree; every day I spend in college is worth ~$905). Scarlett is interested in CS, and has been delaying her college studies to play SC2; think of the implications of that decision on her lifetime-earnings potential.

Scarlett does not have any kind of obligation to the community to sell herself short so that a bunch of people -- who probably aren't even fans of hers -- won't be upset about the price of coaching that they see in a Reddit thread for two minutes, will forget about a week later, and probably aren't going to buy anyway. I believe that none of us have an obligation in life to answer to those who tell us we aren't allowed to be happy and successful and financially comfortable.

The bottom line is that Scarlett has every right to fulfill her dreams, and be successful, and make a lot of money out of this whole thing, and head into college with a nice new computer, car, not much worry about debt, etc... Let the haters hate, they don't understand the ways of the world yet, and hopefully one day in life they'll be a really good at something, and sit down at a job interview for a position offering $100k+, and say "Yes, I can definitely do what you're asking, for example I made x y z happen..," and get the job. Then, when they go home and celebrate and remember "Wait a minute, wasn't I mean to Scarlett for being successful?" and then write her an apology letter 10 years after the fact.

TLDR - Scarlett has a right to be successful; she doesn't have to answer to puberty-rage directed at her in a Reddit thread

+ Show Spoiler +

This was a Facebook post I made a while back, the numbers are pretty accurate (and again, definitely conservative). Tuition is not taken into account because I'm getting my degree for free because of my 4.5 years service in the Army:

So I really wasn't motivated to do my homework, but I did some math and it made me happy.

Average salaries without a college degree, a little on the optimistic side (assuming I work for 40 years):

35k for 5 years
45k for 5 years
55k for 5 years
65k for 25 years
= 2,300,000

Average salary with a college degree (in computer science), a little on the low end:

45k for 5 years
60k for 5 years
75k for 5 years
90k for 25 years
= 3,125,000

8.5 months of college per year for 5 years = 30 days*8 months*5 years+75 extra days = 1275 days of college. 1275/7 gives us the rough number of weeks, this number * 2 = number of weekend days to subtract (not counting holidays here). So, 1275 - 364 = 911.

3,125,000 - 2,300,000 = 825,000 more if I get my degree.

825,000/911 = 905.59 dollars per day. And that's just money, it doesn't include the (generally) better work conditions, happiness, and quality of life bonuses.

Long story short, it seems that college is worth roughly $905.59 per day long term. So, now my work doesn't seem quite so boring.

edit: Thanks for the gold xtorn!

i don't think everyone is giving her crap for it to be fair cba reading it all (the reddit thread)
1/3 of reddit love drama if there is none they create it, then there is the haters jumping on and then the circle jerk is off lol
if u take that out of the equation its been really well received i would say
shes had to deal with this sh!t before hell she survived high school she can survive reddit =D

I mean, sure $75/hours is a lot, and way more than a lot of people can afford, but other players have and do charge even more than that so it's still not the worse deal out there. It's more about playing with Scarlett than actually getting better obviously.

Meh, reddit. A wretched hive of scum and villainy. An immature one to boot.

Try to get any pro-athlete at the top of their scene to coach you for less than $75/hour and see how far you get. Scarlett's not a charity, and people are perfectly free to not get coaching from her if they think it too expensive. Besides, I've seen her cast at HSC, together with Snute (and Dayshi I think?), and that was one of the most informative and intelligent analysis of a SC2 game I've ever seen. Scarlett clearly has an excellent understanding of the game and knows how to deconstruct and explain it so people understand it. She'll do great at coaching.

Aside: Did anyone hear that anecdote about Naniwa trying his hand at coaching?
Someone paid Naniwa $300 for a coaching session. They sent Naniwa a replay to analyse. Upon viewing that replay Nanawi gave back the money, and said: "There's nothing I can do for you." And he has never attempted coaching for payment since.

I heard Demuslim, I believe, telling that anecdote on Rotterdam's stream during one of Rotti's showmatch streams once. It cracked me up.

maybe Naniwa is like those kungfu masters, that refuse your entrance in the monastery in the first 64 tries, but when you enter on your 65th try everyone bows respectfully "you learned persistence, you're one of us now"

Source for number of specialist physicians: http://kff.org/other/state-indicator/total-active-physicians/ (Click "Specialist Physicians" in the "Distribution" box on the left).

So, now my work doesn't seem quite so boring.

dont think youll find any arguments here against what you wrote good analysis though. And i just have to put this up here haters gonna hate.

ok

If she proves to be very adept at coaching, this price has to be a steal.
TBH I was a bit shocked to see her offering it at such a low number.

Incredible opportunity for those interested!

As a side note - I think it would be awesome to see a big up and comer breakout as her student. That would be exciting!
