If Scarlett tried to compete in the women's olympics it would not be allowed. there have been women who have been banned from the womens olympics for not being women so i dont see your point. I am not sure I understand your post but my point was that claiming Scarletts achievements on behalf of women is problematic because Scarlett still has any physical or mental advantages that male DNA gives. This is why people who have male DNA and male physiology are not allowed to compete in womens olympics. If men have a natural advantage in Starcraft--not that they necesarily do, but it can't be ruled out based on results--Scarlett has the same natural advantage. I am usually a very mannered person but... For fuck sake! This is a fan club thread! This isn't your personal blog! Write a personal blog about your feelings and all the wrongs in the world that are a burden on your soul! Write about how you are afraid of MM's ever since you choked on one in kindergarten... Do whatever you want but don't do it here! One more time: This is a fanclub thread!
Agree that this is a fanclub thread, but don't expect this to stop coming up in posts. It will continue to come up because apparently it is more important to some people what gender a player is instead of whether they can play or not. And they also can't seem to accept the fact that her results at IPL 4 as a previously unknown player are why she suddenly has a lot of fans.

Do whatever you want but don't do it here! One more time: This is a fanclub thread! I only posted because some people seemed confused about whether Scarlett was transgender or not. What is wrong with clarifying that for people? The purpose of this thread is to be a fan of Scarlett, celebrate Scarlett's acheivements, fawn over Scarlett's awesomeness, etc. Your role in the discussion has been to point out that Scarlett would not qualify as a competitor in women's Olympic events, to emphasize that she is other, to put her otherness in bold font when you thought it wasn't getting through with sufficient clarity. Scarlett's gender identity has been discussed sufficiently. No one is confused about it, and it has no bearing on her acheivements as a competitor in SC2. The only place discussion of her gender identity has in this thread, beyond the confirmation of the basic fact that she's transgendered back when that wasn't already clear to everyone, is to the extent that it is another factor that makes her an inspiring figure. Your interest seems to be to turn this thread into a gender identity debate, and you are being rather dickish about it. That's not what this thread is for. We're here because we think Scarlett is awesome. If that's not why you're here, then go post somewhere else. I think this post should be quoted everytime Scarlett's gender gets talked about. Me? I just want to see her kick butt at another major event. Is that too much to ask? :D

If Scarlett tried to compete in the women's olympics it would not be allowed. Yeah this is what i mean. I am not beeing rude and i think its great for Scarlett beeing what he wants.BUT its wrong saying this is the best female gamer when he is clearly a guy. I have transgender friends but they are not competing in girl tournaments as its not allowed. You ARE being rude. Even if you insist on arguing on 'genetic facts' which you have very little knowledge of you are still not accepting her wish to be reffered to as she. The whole girl/not girl discussion needs to die - Scarlett is awesome because she came out of nowhere making a splash on the international SC2 scene and showed us that sometimes stuff like this does happen - underdog / star in the making story. No you people are beeing rude. Saying she is the best female gamer out there when she clearly is not a girl. I have respect for transgenders but he is born a guy and is a guy even though he gets surgery. You can clearly see he is a guy and sounds like a guy. He even admits it in interview. My point beeing is its extremely wrong to cheer on this guy for beeing an awesome girl gamer, its actually discriminating for us women. This makes me sooo angry as a girl to see ......
i was offtopic myself and realized my mistake so don't take it the wrong way, but perhaps you should make a thread about transgenders if you wan't to discuss it, same for female discrimination - as for calling her "he" you can clearly see the decision mods have made about it - if you think that decision is wrong i believe "site feedback" is where it's at.
discrimination can mean just about anything except if what you are jealous of is her attention, in wich case i believe ricky gervais suggested you go kill a prostitute. As for competition being wrought out of order by her being called a girl, you first need to prove that she has an advantage, although that would be amazingly interesting i still think we ought to take it to a seperate thread peace

Starcraft 2 is one of the few competitions in life where being male or female has no effect on your ability to play the game at a high level. Scarlett in no way has an unfair advantage over other female gamers.
She's just good.

Just a suggestion, but what about perhaps including Scarlett's post on Reddit about being transgendered somewhere in the OP, just as part of the links or something? While I agree that there isn't really anything more to discuss and that what gender she is has nothing to do with her great showing at IPL, people are obviously interested, and I don't think interest in itself is a bad thing, especially since it's her play that's brought her so much attention.
I really like Scarlett's statement on Reddit because it's simple and to the point -- yes she's transgendered but doesn't want to make a big deal of it, just wants to play good Starcraft; all she is asks is "for people to be respectful and refer to me as 'she'." Makes things very clear, imo. Not having anything like that in the OP, though, kind of invites the same questions and arguments from new posters over and over again. Just a thought -- I know that some people will troll no matter what, but having her statement somewhere in there might help avoid some "misunderstandings."
At any rate, hope she gets a team real soon and that the team gets her a proper computer so she can stream :-p

She's just good. Can you prove that statement? I only ask cause all the current evidence points the other way. i would say the burden of proof should be on the people trying to establish the advantage or difference. Trying to find it now but there is a study proving men doing better in cognitive sporting linked to their 'willingness to risk doing worse' essentially saying women go for options that are better rationally in competition. so if you are number 2 in a race out of 10, a man will often take the chance to come in last to get to the first spot, whereas a woman could be described as more 'complete' in rationality where moving up 1 place has the same positive value as moving down 1 place has negative.
this was the gist of it, im going to try to find it though, its a good read.
