He's too afraid of losing, that's why he's playing more passively than he used to. That's why he overcommits when he thinks he has an opening and essentially all ins, win or lose. I knew before Dreamhack, that there was some bad stuff going on, and I'm sad to be right. I knew he was frustrated with the game. He's not the only Zerg struggling by the way. What everyone expected to happen in HotS launch is happening now, it just took some time for the meta-game to begin to settle and builds to be refined. If people think Soulkey is going to save Zerg, they're in for a rude awakening. No one is talking about it because the Zergs in GSL managed to Roach/Bane bust their way to the championship in season 1, but Zerg winning a macro game in ZvT has become a really rare occurrence in Korea. Here are some stats from Aligulac: PL Round 4: TvZ 61%, PvZ 59% PL Round 5: TvZ 65%, PvZ 58% PL Round 6 so far: TvZ 60%, PvZ 50% WCS Korea Season 2 so far including U&Ds: TvZ 68%, PvZ 54% GSTL: TvZ 59%, PvZ 60% People can talk about sample sizes all they want, but if you see the same pattern round after round, it should tell you something. And like I said, these ZvT win rates are with all the Roach/Bane busts, take those out, and the win rates in macro games would look dismal.

Don't be such a nay sayer (esp in his fan club ![]() Hes 19 for 25 in June giving him a 76% winrate (TLPD) which is even higher than his impressive 70% winrate for HotS in general. Also he's only a few points away from topping out the Aligulac ratings. If anything he's on a hot streak. People are judging all of this slump nonsense on about 4 games.

His win rate is padded from stomping foreigners in DH, it's meaningless. And that's besides the point, because this is not just about Life. He may not be dealing particularly well with the situation he's found himself in but just give it a bit more time and the other shoe will drop.

Also all of those wins only add a little bit to his rating. For life to be slumping his actual skill would have to be so far ahead of his ratings that it would be ridiculous. A few games lost does not a slump make.

But seriously, he has that extra magic, that star ability, and he's not going anywhere. Life will return and own it up - just a matter of time.

![]() Although a lot of eSF stars such as DRG and Leenock have been losing a lot lately, so I am not 100% sure... ![]()

You can see that he's trying to find solutions. At DH he was trying the late gas openers to be able to get enough Queens out against Hellbat drops. Then he tried Roaches, it puts him behind regardless, even if he doesn't take direct damage from the drops. It also delays his tech which means he doesn't have Mutas or Baneling speed when the 3 base push moves out. The push also has leftover Hellbats from the drops, so Lings are even less effective than they are against only bio/mine. Against Fantasy he tried rushing to Mutas, but that also put him behind economically. He thought he had an opening when he killed Fantasy's first push and tried to go for the kill, because he knew he couldn't keep trading, but Widow Mines ended that pretty quickly. There's a reason for everything he does, he's not stupid. There's a fundamental problem with Muta/Ling that no one talks about. I love it when casters say "oh, he's falling behind in upgrades". Zerg is trading against very cheap mineral units with Muta/Bane, bleeding gas to hold the pushes. Mines are reusable, Banelings are not. Terran only needs an Armory for 2/2, Zerg needs a Lair. But when it comes to 3/3 Terran doesn't need anything else can keep upgrading, but Zerg has to spend gas on an Infestation Pit, then a Hive, just to get 3/3, gas Zerg doesn't have when going Muta/Ling/Bane against Bio/Mine/Hellbat. Gas and time. There's a reason 7/8 Terrans advanced in OSL.

You bring out a very good point in the upgrade issue. Hadn't thought about that. So that this post isn't completely off-topic; does anyone know his barcode account(s)? I only know his main Life account but he prolly doesn't use it as much for obvious reasons.
