So sad that it ended like this. I was really hoping to see him at Blizzcon, which without the best Terran is just going to be worse than it could be. Still, good luck next year, I'll be cheering for him no matter what.

It really sucks that the season finals is gone. I'm sure he would have made top 5 in season 1 and he would have been in the season finals in season 2 so he would have had a really great shot at making blizzcon.

I'm glad I was at work for the games today, I wouldn't have taken it too well watching Maru go out. It was an incredibly tough group and great players were always going to out.

I'm a bit scared though - both sOs and Maru have both crashed out of group stages lately. I really hope sOs can perform in his GSL group.

Yep, the season finals would have got him through to the top 16 I believe. To be honest I still cannot believe he won't go to Blizzcon. Also it was really painful to see him so devastated after the game vs Stats.

So dissapointed in Maru's performance yesterday. That was definitely not his A-game. I was really sad at first when I realised that Maru can't get into Blizzcon, but then I realised that if he can't make it out of the group, if he can't even beat Stats, he doesn't deserve to get into Blizzcon anyway.

I am still a big fan of Maru but I really hope he can regain some of his old dominance. This year has not been a good year at all.

Me too.
I miss how he performed in OSL.

Its very sad that he doesn't get much chance to get Blizzcon entire year :/ Pretty much just winning GSL gives him good chance of making it there, while players like Hyun and MC (nothing against them, they are just topping the points) gets there because every lower tier tournament wins/2nd place gives more points than semifinals GSL.

Korea is incredibly stacked and you have to get at least bit lucky to get Blizzcon from just playing in GSL.

That's why Blizzcon just isn't that legitimate imo. Players in the most competitive region, Korea, also have the least exposure to LANs generally speaking. Only GSL and Proleague? Those are the most difficult tournaments, period.

Huge prizepool; sure. I don't think that Blizzcon is comparable to a GSL in terms of of amount of good players and the conditions they play in (standard LAN, no preparation). Not to say Blizzcon sucks, just that GSL is the tournament where all the monsters play.

I haven't really get over Maru's lost yesterday, however looking back at his performance this year up to this season, he has been arguably the most consistent player at the Korean scene, that is GSL and proleague aside from Soo and Zest maybe.

After proleague finished, Maru's performance has been somewhat slowed down. He showed us a glimpse of power on game 2 against Parting.

Top 8 at 4 consecutive WCS Korea and highest scorer on Proleague? Who can match that? I think he's a little burnt out, maybe it's best for him to take a break and come back strong next year. All great players still have ups and down. He's just a kid after all.

I can certainly agree to that. He really has been consistent, pleasure to watch him play. I hope to see more from him next year, maybe see him at Dreamhack. He should try to go to Dreamhack just so he can loosen up a bit; don't go to win, go for the experience of playing a grueling LAN instead of a precise, preparation-based GSL style tournament. Might be interesting to see how well he does.

their*

You have to take into account that GSL and Proleague are huge in terms of preparation, so going to a foreign event can cut into that preparation. Especially SPL, where you have the added pressure of being there for your team. Indeed, Kespa players regularly can go to LAN events, but that does have its price, unlike foreigners who don't have the pressure of SPL. GSL is also a ridiculously stacked tournament, unlike WCS foreigners.

~generally speaking anyway, but there's no denying that it's tough for Koreans playing in Korea
