I think it just shows which big expectations people have of Stephano. He just lost 3 games (one being Bo1) after stomping IPL + ESWC + MSI pro cup #3 (+ Tails). Think of Idra, Huk, hell even Nestea. Everyone loses matches, and often to inferior players.

How would those statements even be contradictory even if it was what I meant (which it isnt)? The "True." comment was for "I think it just shows which big expectations people have of Stephano." If you dont believe players can achieve 95%+ winratios then what was that 64-2? Either it was a fluke or people can achieve extremely high win ratios reliably (which would give them meaning) and means something changed with Stephanos or his opponents' play since he is not achieving it anymore. Now which is it going to be? Stephano is probably my single biggest favorite player. But now being #13 in winrations and way behind Nerchio has me worried. Convince me otherwise and I could not be happier...

Now which is it going to be? It was simply a nice run. When you have a winrate of 75-80%, there will be days where you have 65% and days where you have 90%. 95% is very outstanding and has eventually never achieved before. Thats why there was an extra thread. It was neither a fluke nor can people achieve extreme high win rates reliably (at least we haven't seen this). Stephano probably was on top of his mind and game during these days. I don't think he is significantly weaker now. You don't even now if when he is laddering seriously or just trying out some things.

Can't wait for him to go to korea to practice, reach full potential, and then smack around the whole wide world. As for the drop in ladder winrate and all that jazz... I always like the sc2 -- poker analogy.. Even the best hand (stephano :DD) doesn't hold up on nasty turns and rivers.. big deal, you'll get the money in the long run ![]()

That doesn't mean that his skill level has dropped or something, dreamhack is soon and he can't do NASL since he will be in korea I think (correct me if I'm mistaken), thus he is probably training for it. About his ladder winrate, do you guys realize how hard it is to play "serious" games all the time? Stephano did that once, probably for the show or proving to himself that he can do it, but he won't do it again (playing 66 games as if they were tournament games) so he is not trying to win every game. MorroW said that the impressive thing was not the 64-2, but the fact that he played so many games consecutively "seriously", it's not something that you do often. I'm looking forward to see him play at dreamhack, it's a bit sad that we probably won't see him as often in france / online cups as when he began sc2 t_t.

His speed and accuracy is only matched by HuK and koreans alike (you know what I mean..) I just hope the big increase in his popularity (and therefore expectation of his performance) doesn't mess too much with the young mans head. That being said, it seems stephano is super head-strong so that probably won't be a problem. I can't wait to see what this beast can accomplish with the right training. I wrote about a week ago that he was going to have to deal with expectations and being the favorite..... basically now he's not going to sneak up on anyone, and most people will have prepared to face him with specific strats. Often times the personality characteristics that get you to the top, aren't the ones you need to stay on top. I'm really rooting for Stephano, he seems like an insightful person..... but he needs to step it up another notch now because everyone's targeting him. Staying on top is at least as hard as getting there....... or so I've heard :D
