Very far from it yet, if ever, considering he won't participate in GSL anytime soon. Unless he participates and finishes top3 in every MLG next year, you can rule this criteria out - Has a very high winning percentage Arguable, 50% in GSL, over 70% in ladders, probably quite high in European tournaments as well - Has many successive title wins yes and no, successive title wins, but some would argue they weren't significant enough. - Is particularly dominant Definitely no - Is revolutionizing his race's play Yes in ZvT, no in the other matchups, so arguable again. All in one, calling Stephano a bonjwa is a no go. It's actually hurting his reputation and the one of his fans A bonjwa is not one among the best players in the world, he is clearly dominating the whole scene, including the other best players.Only player in 2011 who might have been a candidate for bonjwa title would have been MVP had he won the GSL Blizzard Cup. It's not even sure you can designate a bonjwa on a such young title as SC2 anyway...maybe in a few years. Edit : still quite amazing to see other recognized pros, especially korean ones, to use Stephano's build ! Unless I'm mistaken, he is the one who created, or at least popularized, this build. This kind of recognition is nice and shows he is not only a player with "good mechanics" (hi DRG !) but he can also create and be a source of inspiration. | ||

Why is iloveoov a bonjwa ? from his graph he doesn't appear do be that dominent for a long time... And you can see 4/5 bonjwas are terran Was it the same in BW as in sc2, where PvP and ZvZ were sor random you couldn't "dominate" ? BTW this is why you only see terrans with crazy ratios in ladder,because they can win TvT more often, if they are better, than Zergs and protoss. | ||

Bonjwa is a term used to describe a player who dominates the StarCraft scene for a long period of time, typically over a year. A lot. He has the most televised wins but no bonjwa status. That Liquipedia article is not fully correct. It lists some of the aspects of the term bonjwa, but not the most important one. A large part of the bonjwa status is a feeling that you get when you watch the player. Like, "wow, what is this guy pulling off, nothing like this has been done before". All Flash did was improve some timings in some builds, other than that he just won a lot. That's also why Stephano is the first bonjwa, his unique builds in IPL3 amazed everyone, everyone was going muta-ling in ZvT. This is also why MVP is not Bonjwa: he just wins a lot. Stephano's play is revolutionary. Edit: also Flash is not a bonjwa because there were 2 dominating players during his era: him and Jaedong. | ||
