I think GSL are afraid of sending him to MLG. He would dominate so much that it would not even be fair. There are some players in GSL that could put a good fight against NesTea, but that's all . It's not so much that, it's more that GSL is sending Korean players that they want to see get Code S and Code A spots. The GSL format can be unforgiving, so this is a quick in for great players that can get screwed by the tournament system. For example, DongRaeGu is probably good enough to be Code S, definitely Code A, but has been stopped in the up/down matchups before. If he'd won, he'd be in Code S right away.
That could also be a reason. But remember that the next invites for Raleigh is Bomber and MVP - they are already in Code S. It seems like GSL always sends the winning guy to go over and defend his title (MVP).
But remember that Mr. Chae has also said something like this "If Koreans lose in MLG, we will send NesTea".
P.S. DRG didn't even make it to Code A.

The terran infestation this GSL season will be your greatest challenge yet. MMA and MVP have the best TvZ in the world, so it's your turn to show them their place >:D

According to liquipedia:
Bonjwa is a term used to describe a player who dominates the StarCraft scene for a long period of time. A Bonjwa typically has an incredibly high winning-percentage and many successive title wins. Each Bonjwa has won 3 titles in the course of one year.
Yup. Bonjwa. Deal with it.
Edit* one important note. The term bonjwa is not in starcraft 2 liquipedia only in broodwar section. Perhaps a large portion of the community believes a game such as sc2 can never have a bonjwa and it is in fact(in their minds) a term reserved for broodwar players only? elitist? you decide.
My question to those doubters is...how dominant does a player exactly have to be to get this title in sc2? How many broodwar bonjwas won a title WITHOUT DROPPING A SINGLE GAME?

You also have to consider the amount of events in one year, GSL has ran 7 season in 1 year while most the the old BW had much fewer as far as im aware.
Nestea is the BEST player in the world, but hardly Bonjwa at this point in time, but only time will tell. heres hoping he wins again and again!

It is true that there are more tournaments held per year in GSL. But my interpretation of that definition listed reflects Nesteas clear dominance..Maybe a new bonjwa article in sc2 needs to be updated to 4-5 wins in one year then?
Maybe I am wrong but it really feels like many will never accept an sc2 "bonjwa". Why is that?

You do realize that there have only been 51 OSL's + MLS's total in BW since 2000, right? If the GSL lasts until 2022, by then, there would be about 110-120 in total. That's more than double the amount. Each OSL/MSL lasts about 2-3 months, and they also play many more games in each than in a GSL. It's not even remotely comparable.
I think as NesTea said, he needs to probably win 5-6 GSL's to make it relatively comparable. In other words, even if we were to take this conversion seriously (which I think is flawed on many levels), he's won about 1.5 OSL/MSL's thus far. Still a long road head of him. Also, none of this is really relevant. JD has won 5 OSL/MSL's, and still isn't considered a Bonjwa. It's not just about how many titles one wins.

"many successive title wins". No-one has managed to defend their title even once so far.

It is not that people will never accept a sc2 bonjwa. It is that people won't quit jumping the gun!!! It has barely been a year and the only reason there is all this fuss over the word is because people are just dying to call SOMEONE a bonjwa.
HuK won 2 tournaments and people are like OMG BONJWA?!?!
There will be a SC2 bonjwa and everyone will know it there just has to be TIME. When there is finally a sc2 bonjwa, you'll know because people won't ask the question or think. People will just KNOW that person is a bonjwa and it will be very apparent once it happens.

alright alright alright...
Nestea is now officially "the-best-and-most-dominant-winningest-game breaking-genius-nerdballer(disclaimer not a bonjwa)"

Love Nestea, come to Raleigh! Imagine him being in the open bracket and some nerd shows up to his match, sets up his computer, enter the game, looks at the name, scratches his head, peek over the computer and see ZERGBONG.
IMO the title of Bonjwa needs to be universal acceptance and with so many players nowadays and people aware, its hard to get that status again because people will be always be bickering. Flash vs Jaedong for example is beaten to death.
Savior is bonjwa because the title was created for him. Even Boxer's bonjwa status is questioned but most just prefer him as "Emperor." iloov and to a higher extent nada (consistant but truely unstoppable?) were retroactive ones that even most haters admit are some what bonjwa worthy.
But to be truely great is not to achieve "bonjwa" status, its to get your own title. Savior is the bonjwa, iloov the cheater, boxer the emperor, july the god of war, stork the dinotoss, bisu the pretty ( okay, i kid i kid). Nestea needs his own title to call his own and then he will be on that pedestal.

Please please please send nestea to the next soonest possible asap right now!!!!Q@#$@%
MLG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bisu the pretty sounds about right to me.

best zerg in the world. period.

you guys are jumping the gun with this bonjwa talk
maybe you don't remember or didn't play sc1, but you need to be unbeatable for A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, not just an event
not trying to take anything away from the guy, but you fresh faced sc2 players don't really understand what comes along with that word
that said, if he sweeps the next GSL, its time to start considering the idea
|
How many GSLs do you want him to win to be called a bonjwa?

Well said. The Zerg God himself that he needs 2 or 3 more titles to cement himself as bonjwa. Once he calls himself bonjwa we should follow suit but until then we should recognize him as the best PLAYER in the world and not just the best zerg.

Well technically thats not true.
Nestea just did. He defended the code S title.
He won Code S May and he won Code S July. The super tournament was a one off seperate event apart from standard Code S play.
And if Nestea wins GSL August he will of won the last 3 code S championships in a row.

nestea isnt just the best zerg in the world he is "head and shoulders" above everyone else - both literally and figuratively - hehe. I would love to watch him play in an MLG soon <3 he is the one true god!
