I have some good news for faniwas, but I'll spoiler it just in case it bothers some people. It's concerning the upcoming WCS season finals. Just so you know.

+ Show Spoiler +
If my calculations are correct, Naniwa only need to win the first match in the playoffs to be guaranteed to go to the season finals. I might be wrong, but this makes me utterly happy! He'll ofcourse take the whole thing, but it's a good feeling none the less. If my calculations are 100% correct, the only way he'll infact miss the seasons finals is if Grubby wins WCS EU, MC 2nd (making it out of his group first ofcourse) and stephano does not retire. On top of that Naniwa need to lose the first match. That will leave the europe top 7 standings like this:

3325 MVP
2025 Stephano
2000 Grubby
1925 Forgg
1900 TLO
1725 MC
1600 Naniwa

But with stephano officially retired, the next player in the table should be invited. And ofcourse, since this round of the season finals will be played in europe, 6 league europe players will be invited.

I might have overlooked something, and in that case I am sorry, but if I have not, then it's a really good day to be a faniwa!

Thought you all should know!

Edit for spoilers.

lookfirewood, the WCS points are only relevant for Blizzcon at the end of the year, season finals participants are determined not by points but instead the top 6 of the current WCS EU season.

So if Naniwa wins one bo5 he's in the season finals, even if he somehow loses he can still qualify by winning 1 bo5 in the placement matches.

Top 6 of this season WCS EU goes to the season final. As simple as that. He has to win hiw ro8 match and if he doesn't he has to win one placement match.
It's good to be back

Oh so the season 2 finals players are determined by the placements in season 2, and not by points. Missed that completely, probably because the top 6 by points, and by season placements, are the same for a seasons first in any region.

Oh well, useless calculation then.

NaNiwa got the duckdeok guys. I think he can take him. But never underestimate a guy like him.

EDIT: NaNiwa might have said that PvP is his worst matchup, but we all know NaNiwa is really solid in every matchup in reality.

Duckdeok certainly plays unconventional. Naniwa however has usually been very strong against "cheesy" plays. Still, it's a bit scary indeed.

Honestly, I think PvZ is the MU he's impressed the most in since the release of HotS. It shouldn't be a problem. I mean, sure, Vortix is a strong player, but I wouldn't be more worried about his than about a Protoss of equivalent skill.

I agree.

Btw VortiX have to win his game against Grubby first and are we really sure its a 100% percent victory?? I'm more worriied about Finale first.

Duckdeok = MVP Finale. Not their most accomplished player, maybe, and I can't find a lot of tournaments he's been playing in recently. He lost the only PvP he played in WCS so far, if that's an indicator. I think Naniwa should be favoured against him, but it's hard to know.

Of course Naniwa is favored, but duckdeok plays a bit risky so that may be a problem if duckdeok gets lucky. Still, Welmu beat him so.

Real finals = naniwa vs vortix in semis. Then he beats MC in the official finals =)

We faniwas believe in you NaNiwa! You can win the whole thing and even if you don't we will still support our king in the north

You will now be at ease and throughout the whole competition. Nothing will effect you. You are now as calm as a Tibetan monk.

Bring it!

I think this is Nani's best shot at a championship so far. He has shown stellar PvP's in the past and the lineup of players against him all feel sub-par, a tier below him. MC is a shadow of his former self. The duck looks unreliable and never accomplished much. Grubby hasn't been looking well, and even in his prime he rarely came to Nani's heights. Vortix seems predictable. As for Welmu and Hasu they might be good in PvP but they also belong in the category of good EU players, something Nani has surpassed by now.

I actually believe Hasu is the biggest threat if you look at the shape of the players in the playoffs. MC is looking really shaky, but Hasu looks scary as hell atm.

definitely he has a good shot to take it all.. but..
lets see a bit.. Hasu for sure will not win WCS.. he doesn't have the material/mentality for it. So he is out.
Welmu is to new and all, he also has a good shot if he plays only pvp.. but even so really strogn PvP players, and he will not be a royal roader.
I guess the only real contender who can actually win are MC, Nani and Grubby. Yes.. MC is a shadow.. of the old MC, but he and MMA are the only ones here who actually won big things. MMA has really bad TvP he i dill not count him. MC definitely has a good changes to take it since hes bracket is somehow easier then nanis side. Vortix is good enough.. and has only ZvP matchup to play... but nani can take him out.. they are in different levels.
Also I don`t think the Duck will be the next Stardust.. he choke with Welmu and also made mistakes with Stephano... he did not show any stelar matchups so far.

But I want to get to this point.. Grubby. This guy is a legend in w3. He played and won some asians cups in SC2.. nothing big.. but as a mentality and preparations skill I might say that he has the best shoot to take it all.

But I still root for naniwa :D
Nani.. gogogogo!

I know it´s Nanis fanclub but right now HasuObs seehttp://www.teamliquid.net/features/ms to be the strongest player in the RO8. And his PvP is outstanding, so as long as he defeats MMA he should be fine...
Still I also hope for Nani/HasuObs.
