U think TL can afford him when they couldnt afford HuK and let HuK go the EG? MC has 10x more marketability than HuK I doubt even EG could afford him let alone TL
It's so much fun when people who have no idea what they are talking about act like they do.
Sadly nobody who knows whats going on tells us whats going on.

I've been wrong before but I read this as couldnt afford HuK
"To the furthest extent our finances would allow, we tried to keep HuK with the team. HuK, too, wanted to stay very much. He loved being a part of Liquid, and was willing to stay with us for significantly less than other teams. However, the offer that he received from EG wasn't just significant, it was potentially life-changing."
that MC's salary is only 10% of what HuK gets at EG
also, MC is not 10x more marketable.... HuK has a huge following. At best, they are at equal size fan base but I would say HuK has a bigger following (check twitter and even TL fan page views).
I really don't get how that would make any sense though. MC is probably the most popular Korean player, GSL champion, and he just won another event, why on earth would he make 10 percent of Huk's salary, or even accept that much?
I am not saying he's making less or only 10% of Huk, he is how ever for western sponsers less marketable. And they invest the biggest money in Sc2.
No chance. MC has more fans than HuK in the West - all you have to do is look at respective fan club #s or read LR when they both play. Add to that Korean fans MC has and HuK does not it's not even close. MC is a ton more marketable. Maybe not at IdrA's level but MC is right there. Marketablity translates into sponsors and into salary.
And that 10% is made up by an anon with zero proof. That's like me saying MC is paid more than EG players combined and calling it a rumor. HuK said "completly untrue" to that 10%.
Edit You are also wrong earlier when you said Koreans don't get a salary when on teams. They do and it's been disclosed before in these forums DRG Fruitdealer etc. Top guys do get salary. I belive they also get a code S salary but I'm not sure.

It's not about the amount of fans you have who ever said that it's silly, it's about marketing how marketible are you for the sponsors target grouping + Foreigners general suport Foreigners, you don't need to be a fan of either to root for the foreigner when he plays a korean it's prity normal actualy, we see it daily on who we suport sponsors see this. Koreans do the same for there fellow koreans.
I never agreed he made 10% of Huk, or even close, i have no idea how much. I am convinced a Idra Huk are more marketable. And looking at current sponsorship, it agree's with me.
Where did i ever say Koreans did not get a salary ? Please read properly and do not confuse me with others.

PS: SK.MC looks horrible though. oGsMC so much more badass.
Yeah, when you say "oGsMC" out loud, it sounds as if the "oGs" bit was an introduction to his name (rolls on the tongue so good), and then the harsher sounding "MC" really punches in.
"SK" and "MC" on the other hand are both harsh sounding, so that the "SK" bit does not support the "MC" part, but rather takes away from it.

And MC has more value being more successful more personality..
If you're privy to details I am wring about please tell.
It doesn't change the fact that you have no clue about what HuK gets and MC gets. :-)
I never said I did. All im just saying is that MC obviously got offered "Life changing" money, like Nazgul was saying when HuK moved from liquid to EG, and liquid could not afford to match.
I am most definitely a fan of MC, no matter who he plays for. He is so much more than just a pro gamer because he brings so much personality to everything that he does. And that is so rare for a Korean gamer,
I am still wondering what the exact reason for leaving oGs is and I hope he doesn't fall behind without being on a Korean team. I will also as many others are miss his name of oGsMC. It was orgasmic, just without the vowels. Wish him luck as a one man army and hope he wins 6 more GSL championships. gogo MC!!!

He did it for the money obviously. Nothing wrong with that, this is his career and pro gaming doesn't exactly have a long lifespan. Most people seem to think he wasn't even salaried on oGs and even if he was the difference between that and Huk money is massive. Perfectly understandable.

When MC streams, he peaked around 14,000 viewers. I never seen any players getting that many viewers so I think MC is much more marketable than any other players.
