Basically, Destiny's main point is that the reason IdrA didn't want to talk to Avilo anymore, and the reason he treated Avilo like dogshit is because Avilo's game knowledge is too weak. Basically, once Avilo says something really dumb that IdrA knows is wrong, IdrA doesn't want to talk to Avilo anymore because he realizes that Avilo's fundamental game knowledge is subpar.

IdrA really seemed like he held it together right up until the end. He presented his points really well, and while some of the things he said were highly situational (run hellions past the queens and it's all good in the hood). QXC seemed to agree with what much of IdrA said, and I think up until Avilo started talking like an idiot the debate was going in a good direction.

I also think that the only reason Avilo went on SotG was to get his 15 minutes, and totally deserved the beating he received. It was frustrating for me to hear him say "I agree with you IdrA, 4 queens means that zerg can just get 80 drones and terran can do nothing about it", and especially when Avilo asked IdrA what he thought Terrans should do and then completely disregarded what he said in response, so I can totally understand IdrA losing his cool at the end and just calling him bad and whatever whatever and refusing to talk to him anymore. I honestly can't say I'd fare any better than he did.

I personally enjoyed seeing the avilo beatdown. The guy annoys me - he balance whines as much or even more than IdrA, but without actually being good. The nice thing about Idra and QXC was that they both made good points and sounded like they were on the same page. With avilo, it felt like he just wasn't as knowledgeable and resorted to generalizations (4 queens, get 80 drones, ezpz).

Idra is ridiculously good, and sees this game much better than 90% of even the pros out there. Then, everyone relates his game experiences, to theirs, and then gives him a bunch of crap for it because they don't experience the game the same way. The stresses and games he plays are way different than what anyone runs into at 'lower' level (like top 20 GM is low relatively). Just sad when you have people from typical bronzes to people even as 'low' as Avilo, 'just' (i use that lightly) a GM, saying he's stupid or a rager. You'd be pissed too.

JP knew full well that this would attract viewers and it did. It's a good thing and it makes things interesting. You can't blame JP because Avilo is dumb, JP gave him a chance to be smart, have a good discussion (redeem his poor reputation?) and Avilo fucked that up. These are my impressions before I'm watching the show.

I'm watching it now and I'm completely unconvinced by Avilo's arguments. They aren't really good at all and Idra is explaining his own points quite clearly. I mean, all I can hear is Avilo repeating "Queen buff lets you get that economy" and Idra saying that the old builds don't work anymore (is that the point of a balance buff?). Idra's insight is really good and it's nice to hear.
