Hey guys.
day9 told us that he want to live only on donations this year. I'm wondering why there isn't ANY merchandise of the thoughthammer? I'm not that sure whether he can live purely on donations - and even if, why shouldn't he boost up his income by selling some AWESOME tshirt, mugs, flags, posters, pencils, cards and of course underwear*. I'm pretty sure that these merchandise products would sell out quickly, given the mass of fans out there. Furthermore his intention not to charge the dailies would be strengthened. He wouldn't sell the product, he would sell the lifestyle! Of course day9 hasn't the time to create logos and shirts and so on, but the current contest shows that there are lots of people who are willing to create that stuff. Therefore, another prize of winning one of his kingston-contests would be that their picture/etc would be printed on a "day9 daily" tshirt. I would love to have a shirt with day9's silhouette and something like "never give up, never surrender" at the bottom of the image. On the back there could be the URL to day9tv!
So ... when and where can i buy such things? Tasteless already has his own shop ...
*if your girl is actually wearing nerdy day9 underwear, you KNOW she's "the one"

The boy's name Manfred \m(a)-nf-red, man-fred\ is pronounced MAN-fred. It is of Old German origin, and the meaning of Manfred is "man of peace". Used by Bryon for an antihero in an epic poem.

To think that after lurking so long my first post would be here seems both ironic and a little cliche.
I'm not sure if Day[9] reads this, but regardless of the fact I feel compelled to comment anyway. After watching most Dailies since the low 100's I've gleaned quite a lot of information and some game sense, having said that I'm only Gold level (SEA, I'll explain NA later) and SC2 is really my first RTS I've played online in any sense that didn't involve 8 computers and 20 battle-cruiser pushes.
Tonight I stumbled upon Daily #100, which I hadn't previously seen and after about the first five minutes I switched off Ventrilo, my music player and all other distractions just to focus on what Sean was saying.
Firstly Day[9], I'd like to thank you for such an honest video. Much of what you were talking about, in particular some of the lessons you have learned resonated with me in a strangely disturbing way. Right through from your early gaming experiences (which were a perfect description of my entire SC1 experience) through to your "Learning how to lose".
I had to laugh when you said "I fled to the safety of team games" as one look at my profile shows I have over 200 games on 2v2 and my 1v1 is 20 games.
It's so strange that of all the places you learned such valuable life skills, it was through a video game. I myself have recently had some upsets in my career that you could roughly equate to "losing" and that same sick, helpless feeling I know only too well. When you went on to talk about how angry you became after that game with Android(I think?) it reminded me only to well of only the other day when I replayed my placements on NA (originally on SEA) only to go 3:0 against 2 high golds and a plat, then to get crushed by 2 gold terrans in the next two games. Suddenly "Congratulations, you've been placed in Silver league" was some of the most enraging phrases I've ever read in my life.
Granted the stakes are a lot lower, and I've not put in the amounts of effort that you have, I'm not pretending for a minute I understood your situation, but many of the feelings you described I'm only too familiar with.
All in all I thought it was the best Daily you've ever done, and I couldn't help but feel inspired by your dedication to the community, to something you love and the way you opened up to the community to share that passion.
I'll probably still rage, be too hard on myself and have to increase my peripherals budget but after watching Daily #100, I feel that there might just be some hope for a little struggling nublet like myself.
