HYUK - Pronunciation: Hi-Yuck
HYUK is an acronym for Hip Young Urban Knitter.
HYUKs are usually found in the slums of New York. They make money selling their scarves and other items on the HYUK black market. For years, the secret location of the HYUK society has been searched for by authorities, but it has never been found.
HYUK is also thought to stand for Hitting on Young Mothers' Kids, and has been commonly referred to as HOYMK, but that is an urban ledgend put out by the HYUK society to throw off authorities.
In New York, there is a 20,000 dollar reward for information leading to HYUK society, and this is the most information about the HYUK ever gathered together.
The HYUK can also get very mean. If you or one of your family members is involved in HYUK, the best thing to do is pull out immediately, because if anything that they do not want to happen happens because of you, you will find a dead, mutilated kitten nailed on a cross on your doorstep.
Look at that kid! Knitting away at the fucking scarf! That's one goddamn Hip Young Urban Knitter!

Korean Air OSL S2 Ro36
+ Show Spoiler +
Hyuk: I'm so happy I don't even know what to say.
-Thoughts on advancing to OSL ro16 for the first time?
▲ I don't even know what to say, I'm just happy.
-You played both your games aggressively.
▲ During practice I usually play management games, but sometimes I get gut feelings during matches that I can win with aggressive play, so I chose to play that way.
-During the first game it felt like your attack had been blocked.
▲ After I took out my opponent's bunker, he thought I ran out of zerglings and I successfully lured him out of his base. It was a mind game and if I could take out his army then I would be in an advantage.
-You controlled your mutas well in the second game.
▲ As a professional player, everyone can control like that during practice, but some players make mistakes during live games because they are nervous.
-Your older brother Park Sung Joon (ex-Samsung player, possibly
ZergMaN?) helped you alot.
▲ He told me alot about
RuBy's favorite strategies, plus he has similar playstyle to me, so it helped me alot.
-You used to be very inconsistent, but you seem to have become more solid now.
▲ I did used to be very inconsistent, I was scared that if I get eliminated again I would go back to the way I was. But I felt that the OSL stage is very beautiful so I decided that I must advance this time.
-You are usually a very quiet person, so we are looking forward to your performance in the groups selection ceremony.
▲ I'm usually very talkative, but I become lost for words as soon as I get in the front of the cameras. I'm the most talkative person in my team, and since I don't know when I'll ever get into a group selection again, I should definitely talk more.
-If you can talk as much as
BeSt that would be good enough.
▲ It takes 10 minutes to travel between the training room and the living quarters, and
BeSt can talk non-stop during that time, but actually I still talk more than he does.
-Your older brother's best result in the OSL was fifth place.
▲ I saw it online before, people say the older brother played so well, so why does the younger brother suck? I hope my performance from now on won't let me hear those comments again.
-How did you feel watching the world cup?
▲ Watching the game made me feel uneasy. Although I didn't want to over criticize them, they did played very badly. I don't know that much about football, but we really shouldn't concede that many goals. Yeom Ki-Hun's solo effort was such a pity.
-Any last words?
▲ Lately in order to improve my consistency, the coach gave me alot of very good directions, and I'm very thankful to him. I hope I can perform better in the future.

Korean Air OSL S2 Prelims
+ Show Spoiler +
- You've qualified for the third time.
▲ Since this was the Korean Air OSL, I really wanted to advance. I saw last season's finals, and was very impressed, so I really wanted to advance this time.
- You've been performing very well recently.
▲ I'm not sure why, but I've been winning a lot recently. Yesterday, I got a bad cold and caught gastroentiritis. I had explosive diarrhea all night, and was feeling really terrible. Still, I feel satisfied with my performance today.
- Did you have any particularly difficult games?
▲ No they were all EZ
- NaDa was in your group, and people expected you to play him.
▲ People predicted NaDa to pass, but inside I knew Neo.G_SoulKey had a better chance.
- How do you expect to do in the Ro32?
▲ Honestly, right now I feel like I can win no matter who I meet. However, I feel uncomfortable with Pure. I met Pure twice in the Ro32 and dropped out both times. But, since then when I rode a rollercoaster, I feel like I overcame this "curse."
(Upon being told Pure got seeded into the Ro16)
▲ I am very relieved I don't have to meet Pure again.
- In a little bit, the Wild Card tournament will start.
▲ Honestly, I feel very confident I can win right now, despite who I am going to be playing against.
- Any final words for this season?
▲ This time, I will make the Ro16 no matter what. My only short-term goal right now is to get in, and then I will set more goals for myself.

Hyuk
Thoughts on winning?
-Not only was it the first time we played 3 Zergs, it’s the first time we won like this, I’m really happy.
Did you expect Jangbi?
-I knew he would play. From the players’ appearance rates on maps, Jangbi is the one who played on the map the most, so I was prepared.
The opponent wanted to play Corsair-DTs, your defense was very good.
-My Scourge saw the Corsairs, so I had a general impression. His Corsairs came to the main, so I thought he would have DTs, so I was able to defend it. Because of the huge advantage from that, I was able to win easily.
You’ve had good momentum recently.
-I feel like I’ve found my style for live games. Before this, I’ve just imitated other players’ styles, but recently, my hard work is paying off, so to a degree, I’ve found my own style.
Samsung played 3 Protosses.
-On Fighting Spirit and Grand Line, we expected Protoss. We predicted 2P1Z for the first three games, so we mainly practiced ZvP, so we were able to successfully counter them.
It seems SKT’s Zergs have become much stronger.
-I can’t speak for others, but personally, I’ve become much better at ZvZ and ZvP recently. I still haven’t found a good way to practice for ZvT, but I still feel better about it recently, and with some ZvT victories, I hope to continue this momentum.
Last words?
-Best helped a lot with practice, thanks.

SKT vs STX Winner Interview (5/27/10)
+ Show Spoiler [SKT vs STX Winner's Interview] +
Q: How does it feel to seal your team's victory in the last game of Round 4?
- First, I'm happy that my team is now 5th. If we lost this game and sunk to 7th place, the team's spirit wouldn't have been very good but since we prevented it from happening I feel good.
Q: Were you scheduled for the Ace Match?
- I was scheduled but I didn't prepare as much as I would have wanted to so I was a bit scared. I set the probability of Calm coming out at 70% and Kal at 30% and practiced accordingly.
Q: How was today's game?
- My build was good so I thought I just needed to defend. I thought if I didn't get ambushed I would have played the game in an advantageous situations with odds about 6:4. So I just adjusted to my opponent's play and built units accordingly. The map's features make it so that the zergling fights don't have a big meaning and so I just matched his zergling count and concentrated on Air units.
Q: You successfully escaped your losing streak against Zerg
- First since Canata and Bisu are slumping, if I lost here I think our team would have been in big trouble. In Round 5 I want to play well until these players revive. I'm very inconsistent but until then I cannot fall.
Q: Your Air prowess seems to be one of the best amongst Zerg players.
- During the days of Battle Royal I played a lot of matches against Zerg. I concentrated on Zerg matches for a few months and I think I improved a lot during then.
Q: Is there anything you want to say?
- Canata lost today and I understand him more than anyone else. He practices more than anyone in the team but it does not show well on televised matches. It will show eventually so I hope he wouldn't be too worried. We just need to all do well on Round 5. I also want to thank my coach for giving me the opportunity for the Ace match and coach Cha for watching over my game because it has been more comfortable preparing for matches. Because of him I think my skill has improved a lot so I want to thank him.

+ Show Spoiler +
On Thursday, July 8th, at the LOOX MBC Game HERO Center, SKT1's representative Zerg player, Park Jae-hyuk (Hyuk), advanced to the round of 16 at the top of his group.
Against his first opponent, Yoon Yong-tae (Woongjin), Hyuk defeated him by playing a strong 2nd half game and then defeated Park Ji-soo (KT)'s 5-factory mech build to advance to the round of 16.
The Interview
Your thoughts on advancing to the round of 16
I'm happy because this is the first time I advanced to the round of 16. Jung Myung-hoon told me that we should both advance with 2 wins and I think I tried harder because of that.
You turned Yoon Yong-tae's spirit in the first game
I was initially confident in my ZvP matches. Also, I feel like my ZvP these days have been doing well.
Your advantage in material superiority in the winning game helped you
My opponent used a build that I excluded from my mind. I felt like I was at a disadvantage in the beginning but I think I was able to pull a win because I played a very offensive game.
Who do you want to meet in the round of 16?
I don't have anyone particular I want to face but I'm ready to beat whoever I meet there.
What are some specific goals from the survivor round that you want to fulfill?
I want to aim higher but for now my goal is to become seeded.
Considering your debut, your advancement to the round of 16 in the MSL has been late compared to other players.
I debued in 2006. I was 20 years old at the time so I felt more experienced than other players but personally I was indifferent about my age. My hyung (older friend that was a progamer for Samsung KHAN Park Sung-joon) said that he was at his peak when he was my age. I practiced a lot and I feel like my efforts are beginning to show in official matches.
But you'll have to be very active in the Proleague.
Right now I'm in a 4 game losing streak in the Proleague. It's strange because in Proleague things aren't working out the way I want to and of the 4 games I've lost, 3 were in ZvZ matchup, the matchup that I am the most confident in. I want to stop my losing streak in the Proleague and makeup my poor progress.
Any last words you wish to say.
I want to thank Coach Cha Ji-hoon for recommending a build in the last game. That helped me play confidently and I am grateful for that.

A lot of people say SKT’s success is now due to the Zergs.
-Speaking of it, we’re undefeated in R5. Starting from the end of R4, we’ve been playing well. Hyuk-hyung did a lot. After the new coach came our Zerg situation improved a lot. He’s continuously given us confidence, and when we’re doing poorly, courage.
You don’t think you have a big role?
-I guess I contributed too [laugh] I feel it’s because Hyuk-hyung does well, so Soo and I play better too. In reality it’s just cause of Hyuk-hyung. We’re learning a lot from him. It’s a cooperative effect.

Hyuk fortunately starts with a build order advantage, but as Jaedong does his best to claw his way back to victory in a game on the biggest stage of professional Brood War, Hyuk needs to display impeccable micro and perfect decision-making in order to seal the win. Hyuk's victory crushes Hwaseung Oz's morale by taking out their best player to start off Day 2 of the Grand Finals, leading eventually to SK Telecom T1's victory.

In their next clash, Hyuk doesn't benefit from a build order advantage and simply has to play better ZvZ to win straight up. This game was among those that marked the beginning of the end of "JvZ" and shows that Hyuk's ZvZ is no fluke: his muta and ling micro is simply superior this game.

Hyuk ALL-KILL!
Hyuk ALL-KILL!
SKT > STX, lol. Or more accurately, Hyuk > STX. Hyuk crushes 4 STX players in a row, including Kal, to entirely embarrass the team that seeded themselves into the finals. Karma's a bitch, STX, maybe you would have done better if you didn't rig the tourney to favor your own team. But Hyuk probably would have crushed you anyways.

All rules of TeamLiquid are of course applied in here as well. Just remember not to post in offensive manner about others players, we are here to discuss and support Hyuk and not to insult any other players or their fanbases

FINAL WORDS
- I have only posted this about 10-20% done due to the fact that I am so tempted to post everywhere else on TL but cannot due to wanting to save up my 2000th post on this wonderful first ever Hyuk International FanCafe! I will get back to this later in due time but for now, I am posting this not even half done so I can post everywhere else with ease. So my apologizes for now.
- I have simply copied the exact same format of the Canata's FanCafe created by disciple and I want to give a huge thanks and props for his guidelines and outline of his FanCafe which I am using as a model to create this wonderful Hyuk FanCafe! So thank you disciple!
- I did this with the blessing of all the Hyuk fans out there who always support and cheer for Hyuk during his matches. The FanCafe is in a early stage of its development. Hopefully we will be able to present soon a lot of great contend, dedicated to Hyuk, like pictures and VODs and of course if he finds out about this - a fighting message from himself !
- If you have suggestions or you want to provide contend, you are most welcome! Just send a PM to QuickStriker
- You can also join the "Hyuk Hyuk Hyuk cafe", which has no meaning, but its a cool thing to celebrate each victory of our beloved zerg player. To join, just add in your signature "Member of Hyuk Hyuk Hyuk Cafe! He's the next Jaedong, baby!"
