Firstly, in the interest of understanding, I'll preface. This is intended to convey the reasons why I love IU. That being said language often fails me on such matters, and I while I might not bring the utmost intellectual depth, emotional grandeur, or formal elegance at times; know that this is due to a lack in mind and insufficient prose. Not a lack of spirit which is all but to present.

I feel compelled again to write a more specific preface. The pseudo-objective reasons to love IU are innumerable, and I will try to address as many as possible. Yet again, I urge you to look more into the matter yourself in fear that I may overlook or simply fail to mention certain aspects of her and her personality that ameliorate IU as a whole. That being said, again, I will try to my utmost.




There are few things as musically soothing to me as IU's vocals when she wants them to be so. This song among others in particular emphasizes this. Have I truly become a beast that music can move me so? She sings it with a softness and emotion that is unheard of in K-pop, and in all respects is actually more reminiscent of K-indie. Her ability to compose (and yes she wrote peach herself) such a gentle piece gives us but the tiniest of glimpses into a truly caring and deep soul. Savants in music of all sorts have shown that you need only be good in one style to be successful. While I’m certain this would apply to IU if this were the case, it delightfully isn't. She has a masterful command over a variety styles, I would exemplify this if it weren't for the fact that your probably still listening to peach, but anyone who has listened to a good amount of IU knows that she can truly sing a variety and excel in it. Her voice seems to be a gift of the highest accord, and we are all the happier because of it.

Has a voice ever matched a face so well? I often have bouts concerning which is more beautiful. IU is just so cute! Yet another reason to love her. She seems to not have to even try, adding an apparent ease to such looks that would leave many lesser being envious. I'll address particularly compelling features in short later. But for now, onto her personality.

"When I get married, I will retire in order to focus on household chores and assisting my husband,” this quote emphasizes her desire to be of assistance to those she loves. Someone giving up fortune and fame to live the quite life of a housewife for one's husband seems to be out of a fairytale; and yet it seems to be one of IU's prime aspirations. Following the quote further will reveal yet more tenderness and emotional depth. “My life goal is to be happily married,” IU continued. “I like the stability that a warm family can offer. I think I will become less selfish once I get married.” Loyalty is an admirable quality, and she seems to want to fulfill that virtue to the utmost. If your mind isn't lost in the grand intellectual and emotion implications of what she just said, you'll find yet more offered in the last part of the quote. It shows a desire for self-improvement to not only benefit her but also the people she loves. With a drive like the and such a lucid dream at so young an age one can only wonder in what other ways she will improve. She has also shown numerous times to be filled with kindness and generosity. She willingly volunteered herself to help put an end to bullying. She has run charity events for those less fortunate. IU has a personality that is hard not to absolutely love or at very least impossible to not respect.
