I think the argument is that the 108x gifs and other artist posts take up much less of a percentage of the thread than the SNSD posts, which as others have pointed out are easily around 40-50% of the thread. Since so much of the discussion is based off of SNSD the question is if that much content merits its own thread, with the precendent set by the anime thread, where Bleach/Naruto are so big that if they were part of the other thread other anime would be buried/discussion would be much less likely to occur. I personally have no problems with it either way but the way I see it splitting the thread hurts no one, the antis are satisfied by being able to ignore it, the SONEs get their own thread, everyone wins.
Do we want our own thread? I personally feel that the antis are what make it interesting. I mean, look at the threads on soshified. No one actually replies to each other, it's just people spazzing out.

I gotta agree with keeping it to this one thread. I don't really post that much here but I've been reading this thread for the well over the past year or two (since page 50ish) and you have to admit it's always the same group of people who have to bait, poke fun, add stupid irrelevant statements that will invoke angry fan responses, (admittedly also stupid) and then proceed to complain about the fans who respond.
It's silly to even single out SNSD as over certain periods of time the exact same group of people start a 5-6+ page "discussion" about some other random (I say random because there's too many to just pick one) person/group. Remember the "dat yejin" craze a little bit ago? Yeah much more productive.
This thread is hardly turning into soshified (got my 50 posts and stopped posting) and definitely nowhere near the allkpop comments section. By far this is my favorite place to read about Kpop because it's not filled with annoying 13 year old fangirls who exaggerate every little thing. SNSD is relevant right now, their teasers are relevant, talking about their teasers is relevant and being expecting of their new album is 100% relevant. Bringing up someones nose and plastic surgery for what must be the 600th time however, isnt. It's the Korean music thread, not a plastic surgery thread.
My advice? Skip over it, don't respond if you feel the hate creeping up out of your brain and let the discussion pass/talk about something else. I'd much rather be able to follow the same thread for all stuff Kpop rather than split it into two for people to just circle jerk each other around.

Everyone deserves a place in this thread though. I personally am not a fan of a lot of idol pic spam (yejin, KMK) but it's not necessary to voice my opinion. Obviously it sometimes seems that SNSD pic spam is more prevalent but SNSD is definitely holding a larger fanbase. I don't think we should be afraid of other groups getting burried, this isn't a "Hidden gems of kpop" thread, it's representative of the kpop community as a whole. Hence, loads of SONEs

I think that's a matter of size of fanbase though. When I post Jisook for example, there's alot of "she's ugly/horseface", but I can ignore it as a difference of opinion. However if someone says "I don't like Taeyeon" there's enough SONEs out there that someone will feel a need to jump in and whiteknight and argue why the dude's opinion of Taeyeon is wrong. I have no issue with the posting of SNSD here, it's the reactions and flamewars that I have a problem with, and as I have pointed out before there certainly is a large enough SNSD fanbase to support its own thread, so why continue to have so many flamewars when there's such an obvious alternative?
There is no need for a split. What happens with SNSD is not all that different from what happens with all the other groups/singers that are brought up in this thread, the only difference is quantity. This is inevitable because of their popularity and the fact that people love to love/hate them. It happens all the time with various topics, popularity simply breeds it.
Personally, I don't understand why certain people seem to have this deep-seated need to attack idols they don't like or believe to be overrated. This extends beyond SNSD, and, frankly, it's completely unnecessary and stupid. Let's be clear, I'm not saying that people shouldn't be able to express their opinions about a particular group/singer, but I don't see the need for posts like "____ = troll", "omg, you saying ____ is attractive is an obvious troll", etc. It's sad to see how much difficulty people have in posting in a respectable and intelligent manner in this thread, and it's ridiculous how often people complain of conduct that they themselves are guilty of.

Let's be honest here. Many of the attacks on/criticisms fo SNSD members is made knowing the reaction they're going to get, and are often worded in such a way to specifically goad a response. Again, this extends beyond just SNSD, but it is definitely more prevalent when it comes to them. I haven't seen many reasonable and respectable posts about groups/idols, good or bad, result in flamewars. It's always flaming begetting flaming, and most of it starts with attacks, not support/fandom.
Bottom line. If you don't like SNSD or their fans, then just ignore it. Prior to this recent debate, there had not been so much SNSD-related content to drown out stuff about other artists, so there's no excuse for fighting.

Also agree with what someone said earlier. For Soshified I literally had to put my pride aside and make comments that make me cringe in order to get up to the 50 posts to see if the subs are even good. They are excellent and plentiful btw, for sure one of the better subbing teams. A lot of shows, series from the past. Many in 720p, I think if it was aired in HD it's subbed in HD.
So naturally for the forums I don't enjoy it a lot there, only for browsing some content, and regardless of what happens here I think it will be ok. Things like "the girls are so x" or "omg she looks so skinny, is she eating enough? im so scared" "jjang jjang jjang I don't know any other words it's daebak jjang". I'm probably missing a whole lexicon of this type of speech but I'm assuming that is the exact same thing for you guys that can be off putting about the "sone" right.
