Don't think it's much of a shoujo myself either but by the categorization it's slightly geared toward females I guess. This is actually amazing news to me. Natsume is probably one of the most dear anime I've ever watched. It's so relaxing and tender in an honest way.

when you like that kind of anime maybe you should give Tamayura a try. It has a similar feel to it.

Maybe, but for example I dislike shows like Aria. It's a bit condescending making anime like that to me. Cute girls walking around and doing cute things providing the main entertainment. Not saying Tamayura is like that but it was the same director so I associated it with Aria...

well you could say it's kinda similar, but I still think you should at least give it a try

LoL UBW at least had Ilya+Berserker background story and Caster+Teacher meeting story. It's more than Fate ever had and more than Heaven's Feel will have. Sure UBW is plagued by Shirou and Archer, but it's the story that is most centered on Servants themselves. Hes talking about the UBW Movie, that had really good action scenes, but held ctrl through everything else.

Natsume is serialized in LaLa, so it is a shoujo.
A rule of thumb is that if an anime is a manga adaptation, look at the magazine where the manga is serialized.

Well, in a way, the point of such titles is that nothing much is expected to happen. I enjoy them as a change of pace from more action-oriented titles, like a dessert if you want to make an analogy. There is even a term "Iyashi Kei" for this style of anime/manga.

It's serialized in a shoujo magazine but I don't know that I'd call it shoujo.

you didnt watch natsume right?

the fact that it was made with girls in mind, does not exclude male audience, in shonen jump you do not have 100% combatadventure stories either, as long as you do not read twilight, you remain a man, even if you do like some shojou series (<3 kaichou wa maid-sama)

I've watched quite a few that would be considered shojou. A good story is a good story in my my mind.

Yeah, but without the little love story the show doesn't really work. Considering the reason he's working so hard is for her, but still think it's dumb since they won't even talk to each other and will hardly even look at one another.

I love kaichou wa maid sama. Misaki is great and Usui is a bro. The scans have been coming out slow lately.

No I haven't.
But shoujo/shonen refer to their target audience, not their content. A shoujo title is not necessarily a cute or high school romantic story. A shounen title is not necessarily an action packed hero story or harem romance. If a manga is serialized in a girl magazine, then the target audience is girls, therefore shoujo. It does not mean that boys can't enjoy it as well =)
Look at CLAMP. Cardcaptor Sakura (Nakayoshi) is a shoujo, but Tsubasa Chronicles (Weekly Shounen Magazine) is a shounen, yet they have the same lead characters.

The anime outlook sure has taken a turn for the better lately...
That DVD sales image is so misleading because Working sales plummeted after Vol. 1; DRRR dropped too but not as much.

Let's see... + Show Spoiler [UBW] +Ilya+Beserker? Didn't happen in the movie. Hell, Beserker even fell down when he died instead of dying standing like a badass. And there was no breaking of the chains of heaven or momentary re-materialization from sheer willpower. That scene was screwed over completely, and I was pissed.
Caster+Teacher meeting story? Didn't happen in the movie.
Archer's motivations? Explained horribly.
And then we got a CG dolphin instead of a implied h-scene because DEEN is retarded.

It'd make more sense than this "I don't even know you but I'll marry you if you're successful" bullshit. At least the thing with Miyoshi is more believable.

I love kaichou wa maid sama. Misaki is great and Usui is a bro. The scans have been coming out slow lately. I used to like it, but then they gave us like 10 straight chapters of stupid stalker butler guy. -_- The guideline that shoujo manga typically start sucking around chapter 60 due to the maintaining of the status quo holds very true, unfortunately. At least something of note happened in the most recent chapter.

I think you really shouldnt focus on that too much. the main part of the manga is and will be the creation of mangas, that little love thing is just to get a cute girl in the story and to get the story going.
I am mean how does that sound " i want to be a mangaka because I want to" sounds boring doesnt it? Reality is not always something you should stick 100% when you want to write a story.

Yeah, I know it's not the focus of the plot, but it just bothers me whenever the focus shifts to her. Why do his motivations need to be interesting instead of boring? Like you said, that's not the focus of the plot - the mangaka stuff is the main thing here. That's all I'm interested in for this manga. Why was her inclusion necessary?
It's not even that I'm opposed to romance sideplots. Miyoshi, for instance, is fine. It's just that the thing with Azuki is just so stupid that it ruins my suspension of disbelief.
Plus it feels like it's a set up for some stupid drama further down the line.

it probably is a setup for later yes. I suppose as soon as the stuff with new "enemies" gets old we will see some drama. But as long as that is done well I dont particulary mind it.

Kagetsu Tohya (Tsukihime continuation, if you will, with additional small stories) is hilarious. Half the time I find myself laughing uncontrollably. The other half the time, I find myself interested in the stories it provides, themselves. Akiha is just so so good D: I missed her soooooooooooooo much.
