I'm steaming it online because I don't have much free space (and I generally tend to stream ongoing stuff, too much of a hassle to download each torrent as they come out, and the site I use is actually keeping on top of releases really well.)
I wouldn't even consider that trolling (well, maybe if I was trying to archive that release, but still), I mean, it made me laugh, not rage.
You know, now that I think of it, there's one thing that kinda really bugs me about magical girl anime (though it can apply to various other situations in other anime as well). The idea that the main character may decide not to do something that is central to the plot + Show Spoiler +
Such as Madoka possibly chosing not to become a magical girl... (not that this is strictly a spoiler, but either way, I'd prefer just to not discuss specifics when possible, and anything specific about an anime I mention will likely be spoilered.)
I mean, the actual result is pretty much guaranteed, especially in the above case since there would be no show if they chose differently.
The norm in mahou shoujo anime is for the main girl to be transformed pretty much from the start. Madoka is now at episode 5, and she's still not a mahou shoujo. It doesn't get much better than that.
Anyhow, you said it yourself, certain things must happen, otherwise there is no show. How else would you define a genre?
Edit: For instance, suppose there was a mystery show that follows a murderer around. Then suddenly, as he's about to commit his first crime, he realizes the error of his ways and decides to stop and lives happily ever after. Nobody would watch that.

I don't know, for the subs maybe?
My point was why bother delay it, unless you have a very good reason. I see what they went for in Madoka and it works quite well actually + Show Spoiler +
Playing off the conflicting emotions, having Homura stepping in at the right times, talking to her and making her not want to become a mahou shoujo, etc.
, but there are some times where it just bothers me because we all know that one way or another they are going to make the choice, so why play things up like they're going to chose something else?
Now, if you have a good reason that actually ties into the main story line and character development, it's certainly a good thing to use on occasion, but so many anime abuse that just to try to set the pace of the show, or simply because they can.

I just finished eopisode 4 and I have to say I love the pacing of the series so far. Just enough in each episode to make you genuinely interested in the next episode, without resorting to cliffhanger endings. I'm a bit of a sucker for shows that have serious emotional components, but I find that so many of them bother me for other reasons.
But yeah, so far the only 2 anime that have successfully brought a tear to my eye have been Hourou Musuko and Simoun (that show has some really deep messages if you look for them). Actually, I think Piano might have also have, now that I think of it.
Anyone care to suggest something like those? I'm always looking for something to watch and I find myself enjoying that sort of thing more than most other anime. The thing is, there are also a million romance anime out there that just bother the hell out of me (Kanon, etc. etc.) so I have a hard time figuring out which ones are actually worth my time.
I'm watching Hourou Musuko too. I haven't gotten around to watching ep 4 yet though. The show is extremely touching an emotional. I love it. It's probably the best show of this season besides Madoka (subjective).
I watched episode 1 of Madoka, and I don't know if I can get past the magical girl aspect (never been one of the genres I like), but it does seem very interesting.
I've also been watching Fractale and Gosick, and honestly, I think that Fractale, Gosick, Madoka and Hourou Musuko are probably the only anime worth watching this season, and that makes me sad.
Just keep watching it, I didn't really like episode 1 and 2, but then after that I realize that the producers have the balls to treat this show in an adult way... Stick with it until the end of episode 3.

Finished episode 2 (the sub I was watching cut out partway through it, and I just went to bed last night) and watched everything up to 5 now. I'm definitely gonna keep watching it for now.

I'm glad they *kept the morning rescue commercial in from the original broadcast because we get more speculah with it's connection to the OP :D

With the way the show has been going (pretty much the opposite of what happens in mahou shoujos), I wouldn't be surprised if that never happened.
I think that gg has such a huge following because they always sub mega popular shows.

Madoka is the new Star Trek. Instead of learning Klingon, you learn to decipher runes.
Now Madoka fans can leave etchings of runes around the world, and fellow fans can read the message and use it to find geocaches full of fanart or memorabilia or something.

gg released KnK 4!! Go grab that shit, wait until they release them all, and marathon them.
You will. not. regret. it.
And don't bother with the Coalgirls release. They're just bloating file sizes without impacting quality in a positive way.
I like geocaching, but I'd like it more if I got Madoka stuff from it.
Imagine deciphering the runes to get the coordinates. And you travel halfway across the world to some unknown place. And you find the geocache inside some swamp filled with hungry crocodiles. And once you get back to safety on your plane, you open the box, and inside is...a piece of paper. You unfold it and it has a note from the person who hid the cache congratulating you. And you flip it over to find an awesome, hand-drawn yuri doujin of Madoka x Homura. You peer deeper into the cache and inside is...a limited edition copy of the BD box set?! You open it to see if it's geniune, and as well as the BDs is...a limited edition copy of the OP and ED singles?!

I'd probably die. Out of happiness.
I'd sell that shit and proceed to dl the nearest fansub group's Madoka BD release. :D

It's called the person checking all the drawings is getting lazy, lol. Probably get cleaned up for DVD/BD releases.

It's SHAFT. I don't know why you expected super high quality animation like you would from BONES or something like that. Regardless, if you nit pick at every little detail, you'll never find any enjoyment in the show to begin with, so moving on.
As for the fansub debate, if you're expecting top notch subs from gg, I laugh at you. So hard. Nutbladder is currently the speedsubber of choice if you want to stay on top of things with a relatively decent translation. gg actually majorly trolled a ton of people in ep 1 of Madoka when they basically translated a line Mami said to Homura as something along the lines of "I'll kill you" when she really wasn't saying that.
Also, I hope that everyone who got sucked into Madoka via episode 3 knows that they walked right into Urobuchi's trap rofl.

In my experience, stuff like that is very common in anime, so I just ignore it. I mean if you pay enough attention, things are animated like that all the time in tons of shows now days.
