Maybe Homura wanted to go back in time and kill Kyubey before he made contact with Madoka. If that's the case, things obviously aren't going as planned D:

Just thought: What if that dream sequence from the very beginning was a vision of the final battle? Madoka sees that Homura is about to die, and Kyubey is like "Make a contract to save her fufufu" and Madoka is like "RAWR YOU MANIPULATIVE DICK" and kills him or something.

Also, when do people think Madoka finally will make the contract? I'm guessing the end of next episode. As it is, her character is too boring.

Probably at the climax of the series. I wouldn't be surprised if she never became one TBH, especially if Homura's wish was to go back in time and prevent Madoka from making a contract.

sick observation, wow this is getting me more pumped for the next episode. I don't really got anything to add, cause i can't come up with anything at the moment If her power was really time travel, and Homura went back in time to save Madoka, Madoka would eventually have to turn mahou shoujo right? 'causing her to die resulting in an endless circle. But if she doesn't turn mahou shoujo then i think it might defeat the purpose of it. Unless they do like some flashback with an epic yuri/madoka death scene or something. But i think this just makes me feel better that i wasn't crazy thinking madoka is going to die one way or another

I'm gonna assume that Sayaka dies and they eventually kill/repel Kyouko for this.

The most likely endings, IMO, would be:

-SHAFT trolls us and Madoka never becomes a puella magi because Homura was able to stop Kyubey.

-Madoka makes her contract at the climax of the series, and her and Homura kill Kyubey, voiding all contracts and making everything go back to normal.

-Homura dies and Madoka is alone in the world as a puella magi.

-Madoka dies because Homura was unable to save her

-Both Madoka and Homura are killed by Kyubey or something

I agree that that would be a reasonable ending just from a story perspective.

The problem is, I can't think of what Madoka will be doing for the next 7 episodes. Sayaka is almost certainly going to die in a couple of episodes and then what? Homura is the only magical girl? I don't think Homura alone can power the show.

I'm guessing Madoka becomes a magical girl and then Shaft changes the OP or something. Otherwise her character isn't interesting enough over the course of the show.

Maybe Sayaka could survive longer than we think. Maybe she beats Kyouko and lives on for a bit. Or maybe Kyouko defeats her and Homura fights her.

continuing on from that, once Madoka becomes a mahou shoujo, she will probably die, because of her ideals, and Homura not being able to save her. That is the most likely ending in my eyes, could be obscured cause I want it to happen like that but...

Next ep is obviously France's reveal. Shower scene incoming. France is currently my favorite character because:

1) Reverse traps are awesome
2) She's actually a good pilot
3) Not a tsundere

We'll have 7 of 12 episodes remaining. The usual (going by Nanoha standards here) way would be that the big fight and climax takes up episodes 10 and 11 while episode 12 is reserved for a "and so the story ends" part.

Since we ended on a cliffhanger with episode 5, episode 6 will deal with that situation and any possible fallout from that. I don't think that any magical girl dies in episode 6. Madoka won't become one either

Episode 7 will give us another confrontation between Sayaka and Kyouko where one of the two characters die most likely (I'm going with Sayaka dies here). This is not discovered by Madoka until the end of this or the beginning of the next episode.

Episode 8 deals with the fallout from episode 7 and how Madoka copes with the situation that everyone dear to her has been lost, even though she didn't agree to the contract. Just as Homura warned her. More of a introspective if you so will. Maybe there will be some conflict between Kyouko and Homura but I doubt it will go far. Maybe the two are about to clash, mainly because of Kyouko's personality and the episode ends.

Episode 9, Madoka has made up her mind and confronts Kyouko and Homura about the whole situation, maybe after a sad scene with her parents and the now empty school (all the glass, suddenly very depressing). She'll also learn about the wish that Sayaka made and how it got reversed after she died. That leads her to the two magical girls and Kyuubey, where she makes her wish, probably in tears and something impulsive (like "I wish it would just all end").

Episode 10, the world ends because of her wish. Homura tries to stop it, but is destined to fail. Time travel ensures and we are back at the beginning scene of episode 1, this time extended. Through Homura's powers Madoka got saved somehow and can see what happened through her wish and how being a magical girl is not good.

Episode 11, Madoka saves Homura, they fight against the death of the world and all its evil (Kyuubey) and manage to defeat it in the end.

Episode 12: Sad but happy end, Homura and Madoka going to school together, remembering their old friends that they lost. But the world is safer now, and they are free from their contracts.

Apparently Germany vows to make Ichika her "bride."
