All that said, I'm curious about what their plan is. The new adaption will only be 12 episodes long. What would be the point of leaving it at that? I doubt it's advertisement for the books in this case. Is it just fanservice for the anniversary or do you think they will adapt more? Golden Kamui ep2 was enjoyable as well. I guess I got two shows to watch now this season. Plus the new FMP once I have watched all the previous stuff. What's the Hina stuff some people here are talking about and what makes it good? Several people here, several people on IRC, some of my other friends, etc etc. Playing SRW games has kept the story fresh for me, but even I'm feeling the itch to rewatch The Second Raid now. I'm also surprised by some names that say they have watched it, such as goody (no offense, I'm just surprised).

Hina is hinamatsuri. It's a weird anime but fun anime with super powers and such. Give it a quick watch imo before deciding if you like it or not.

Why do they keep using it? -.-' I could have composed something better just using my left hand, it's that annoying. I think my previous assessment about enjoying the beginning episodes more, now that I have watched the whole OVA, is true. Even though the character models of the new adaption throw me off and the new voices don't help my brain to recognise the characters, either, I can feel the charm already. The new show seems to be following the novels (as the lack of Attenbrough shows), and I guess standard novel pacing for anime is like, what, 2 volumes for 12 episodes? If it does that, this season will cover roughly the first 26 episodes of the original OVA, and end with + Show Spoiler + Kircheis' death

Love triangles were all the rage at the time. They kinda still are I suppose. FMP's triangle is pretty friendly, all things considered. + Show Spoiler [Post TSR spoilers] + It's also not much of a triangle after A Dancing Very Merry Christmas lol. And for that I am glad. I think it's one of the few entry level shows that were reasonably easy to access back then (when divx and rmvb were the standards), and it's pretty fondly remembered too. The nostalgia is real. IMO it's up there with stuff like SEED, FLCL, and Cowboy Bebop as far as the west is concerned. LoGH has been pretty good so far. The battle music really does suck ass though. + Show Spoiler + I guess ending the season at that might be to encourage a continuation, but who knows. The OVAs were released over a stupidly long time. It's a miracle the series was ever completed at all.

Yeah I watched FMP (and read I think about half the novels) back in like 2011 or 2012 or something. I feel as if the person who watched that anime and the person I am are two entirely different beings.

I know I was being a big baby about reading manga like 50 pages ago, but I've grown to enjoy manga again. Does anyone know if the Mahoutsukai no yome manga is any good?

I'd say it's overall above average for what it's doing but the average for that kind of show is just so low that it's fairly easy to do that. Sent hated the style of it (visuals) iirc, while I absolutely loved that part of it. If you like Yukarin or Kayanon it might be a bit of a voicetrap but the MC was absolutely forgetable when it comes to voice iirc. If you're into that kind of show you can give it a shot, otherwise it's too mediocre to consider imo.
